Thank you, Michiel Akkerman, for an excellent explanation and video. After almost 2 yrs. of pain and useless physical therapy, I went to a Pain clinic where I was treated by someone who was an expert in trigger points. Relief came very quickly and I was taught ways to prevent it from happening again. That was 8 yrs. ago. If only more medical personnel were taught about Trigger Points we would not have an epidemic of people gobbling dangerous painkillers, which only mask the problems, & do nothing to resolve it. Thanks again, this is a wonderful educational video.

Get a theragun and ball. lacrosse ball, baseball ect. Find the spots that are sore and beat them to a pulp. That's what I have been doing and it's slowly but surely working. My back and knee were in so much pain I thought I was injured for life. Knee pain was 8 years back pain was 3, I figured out both stem from myofascial syndrome. No "experts" could help me. It's usually a "deep tissue issue" thats causeing problems. I'm able to squat without knee pain and sit without back pain when that was not an option just a couple weeks ago.

Can use thermal therapy. Allow the shower head to spray Hot water to the trigger points , the pain points as well as tip of skull ..., the duration and the heat depending on severity . Keep soles and palms dipped in Hot water ,up to the ankles and wrists for a few minutes, before wetting any other part of the skin for a few minutes; Drink warm water, detox, eat healthy, sleep under warm sheets ..... all to keep up smooth blood flow) Need to learn to Let Go, to reduce stress . Seek help in Solving or dissolving issues in life.., and in Practice of self love. Chronic stress, poor diet, lack of exercise leads to constipation and metabolism issues..,leading to toxic built ups.. .,weakens immunity, ruins the joints, eventually all 7 systems will crash.

I saw one so called 'fascia therapist' who pressed so hard at area at base of skull that she pushed atlas vertebrae out of place and upset vagus nerve on one side ... massive problems created from which I am still suffering months later. She also had earlier cause my entire rib cage and sternum to freeze up so that I could hardly breath .... I should never have returned but she did actually help me on one visit.

I have had these pains in my back on and off for years. The pain starts like a pinching in my upper back and develops into what feels like a spasm all the way down to my lower back, it is so painful that I have to lay down and take the strain off my back. I didn’t even know what a trigger point is!! This video describes exactly where my pain is and where it is radiating to i.e my lower back and upwards to my arm, deltoid muscle. My physio therapist said that it is probably scar tissue and gave me lots of exercises to do, which don’t help but seem to make the problem worse. I have described this pain to my doctor and all he gave me was pain killers and muscle relaxants. After watching this video I think I might finally have some answers and some help. Thank you.

I've been suffering from pain around the shoulder blades for some year, some days worse than others. It's often okey in the morning but in the efternoon it begins to get really stiff and aching, you feel it more when you push your shoulders forward. Its a real pain in the ass, incredible annoying. But i think this vid gave the explanation where the pain comes from. I just pushed my back against a wall with a tennis ball between and found atleast five points in my upper back area. feels already better, i gonna try this every day now. Thanks!

I just wanted to comment, yes this is just excellent written information. It is in tune with the reader and how they absorb it. Its neither wrong nor can be 100% accurate of position because every body is different in my opinion. That is why I love being a LMT, our brains are wired differently I think . We are able to see things from different perspectives . One of my personal favorites is the ability to palpate trigger points with my eyes closed and see in my mind the muscle releasing. Then I focus on bringing oxygenated blood back to the area I just worked on. Thankyou

This is a fantastic video! I'm very impressed with the video's graphics coordination with what was being spoken. I do have a question: Does the ball movement patterns matter all that much, or is there a specific way movement that works best? I ask because in the video you were moving across the fibers instead of with the fibers and was curious if there was any significance to that, or if it was simply one option of many ways of doing it.
@MichielAkkerman
@MichielAkkerman 10 жыл бұрын
Thank you :). To answer your question; there are different opinions on that subject. In my own opinion the direction of the ball-movement doesn't matter that much. I recommend using a direction that feels best.

After watching this excellent video I bought a theracane and the Clair Davies Trigger point therapy workbook. For many years I've had low back pain and poor posture (rounded back) After 30 minutes using the theracane I found and treated multiple trigger points in my back and several in the erector spinae muscles either side of my spine, My lower back pain was gone and posture immediately improved. Well, who'd have thought that tight erector spinae muscles would stop my spine from being straight?!! Over the years I've spent a small fortune on chiropractors or osteopaths and now I'm wondering what for? Fixed myself better for less than £50...Thanks so much for posting this, changed my life !!

पूरे यूटयूब में ऐसा वीडियो देखने को नही मिला , जो अपने बनाया। क्या प्वाइंट दबाने से कहां पर फर्क पड़ता है। (Did not get to see such a video in the whole KZbin, which was made by itself. Does pressing the point make a difference where?)🙏🏽

I've had a visible 'knot' (bulge) on the inside my gastrocnemius for a few years now, about the size of an almond. Pretty sure it's a strain/spasm that I never treated. Will it go away now with regular massage and stretching? Also, would this spasm cause tightness that would affect my hamstring and piriformis/glutes in the same leg? Ankle mobility on this leg isn't as good as the other too. Thanks

Bro; if you made an entire video/DVD of possible trigger points of the body with this type of animation; with your voiceover explanations; and sold it at an affordable price; you’d make out pretty damn good, my friend.

I had some great results from golf balls under my back, laying on carpet floor. Try them all over the whole back, except on top of the boney vertebrate spinal column, boney edges of the scapula, or boney ribs for very skinny. Be sure to grab some muscle, not ball to bare bones. My worst trigger points are under the scapula and feel amazing to release with about 12 strokes. I just need to make a habit of the 5 times a day for a few weeks to really kick them into shape. I'm pretty sure some of mine are misaligning nearby discs as well.

Trigger point therapy saved me. Years with sever chiropractors did absolutely nothing but make me worse compared to a single 1 hour session of trigger point.
