In todays video we are doing some early season Michigan bow hunting. I am looking for my first deer ever with my grandpas recurve. Bow hunting has been a part of our family for many years!

the cool thing about most of the old bows like your Bear, if they have been halfway taken care of, they are still good or even great bows. my old Kodiak Hunter is one sweet shooting bow, it was made in the 60s and still an awesome bow. can't say that about many compounds, they are usually shot after 4 or 5 years, cables or wheels. I do like to brush in around my knees at least when in a tree to give me some sort of brushy look and to hide some of my movement. Always some behind me to break up my silhouette because they will see you otherwise. I cut brush to hang plus use old christmas tree limbs because they have wire and they stay green. keep it up
@CrouseOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
That is cool. Good advice. Yes we need to do something about that stand, thinking about building a box blind you could shoot longbow out of
@jerrycox20582 жыл бұрын
@@CrouseOutdoors you don't have to build a box blind for the tree, just add cover that you can leave. the deer get used to seeing it there and it allows you more movement. you can add with knowledge of shooting a trad bow which needs a little more elbow room. I have used brown trot line to tie from limb to limb in order to hang limbs or branches from and just leave them. you can always walk out into the field or whatever to look back and see what they see in the tree. use natural add ons to your advantage. when done right, deer and people will walk by you and never notice you unless they too bowhunt and check trees for stand set ups.
@CrouseOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Oh I am aware we could brush it in. I just want to make a blind

It would be a good idea to edit out from :39 to :45. The Michigan DNR frowns upon uncased bows in vehicles. They have at least one officer that primarily checks social media for fish and game violations. That bow needs to be un-strung or cased to be transported legally.
@CrouseOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
You are the 2nd person to mention that. Never even crossed my mind because it is a recurve. But I'm sure you guys are right

Had the bow set up at a pro shop. It performed just fine kzbin.infoUgkxQEKUoxLWwayEDZR0NKB-5limn4MBU-2L . And I would say this is a good starting now that I could pass down to my son when he is older.But the package was missing the release and a nock was missing from one arrow.Dealing with customer support was terrible. They suggested I buy a new release rather than correct their own quality control issue because it’s to expensive for the. to ship it out from China.Update: manufacturer got back to me and resolved the issue. I retract the above statement.

I should have worn a mask or face paint, agreed. I used to have all scentlok gear and keep it in a tote till I got to the woods, sprayed down, used the soaps, the whole 9 yards. Still had deer winding me. Whole thing is a gimmick to sell more crap imo.
