This is our 2014 Michigan Deer Camp. If you know anything about the traditions of the Michigan Rifle Deer Season you know Deer Camp. If you do not participate in a Michigan Deer Camp we strongly suggest you do. Michigan Deer hunting is rich in traditions that include family, friends and of course, Whitetail Hunting!

I just wanted to say thanks to you guys for making this video. I know how your brother feels about getting home from the service and being able to hunt with family and friends it is truly a surreal feeling. I am in the Air Force as well I shipped out in 2011 for BMT my recruiter called me up and told me he had a date for me to head to San Antonio. I asked him what day. Knowing me he said I was not going to like it. So I asked and he said to me" you ship out Nov 15th". Sense I have been in I have always saved my leave for hunting season and do what I can to make it home each Nov. Last season I was stationed in Korea and my mid tour set me up to go home and have the opportunity to hunt with my loved ones. It was the most memorable year I have ever had in the woods. I was able to harvest a big Michigan 8 point on Nov 3rd with my bow and a small doe on the 15th of Nov. My 4 year mark in the USAF. The best part of the month was not the fact that i harvested two deer one being the biggest buck I have ever had the opportunity of harvesting. That was just a bonus. The best part was that my dad and I were able to hunt together and share the tradition of hunting like we use to when I was growing up. I have viewed this video several times more time than not when I start missing home and I just wanted to let you know that the video means a lot to me. It brings back the memories of home and the time I have spent around the bonfire anticipating what the morning might bring. Most of all it brings back the memories of my loved ones by my side sharing in the ever so important tradition of hunting. Thank you again.

You are correct, .....this is deer camp. Like many generations before us. But still the same. We value the time and effort put in before season and the time and effort put in just before the season starts. The supplies laid-up for the hunting season, the wood split and stacked for our warmth. The area cleared for our vehicles to get into camp. All the little things. Unless you have been invited into a Northern Michigan Deer camp, you have no idea what it takes to live and survive in the Northern Woods. Four decades of being a Troll and hunting with my friends have not decreased my enjoyment of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. They have taught me to survive if I get lost and can't find my way home at the time. They have taught me to drag my deer in the most easily pulled way back to my car. They have shown me the best areas for Grouse and Woodcock ..........and I never asked. 1:25....Dang,......these guys look like the usual lopers with all of their machines and all of the tracking skills that city folk have. Stop watching here.

Great video! Nice to see some fellow Michiganders on KZbin. This video truly captures what the hunt is all about. Sitting around the fire, shooting the shit and talking about tomorrow mornings hunt with friends and family, enjoying each others kills and enjoying the outdoors. Let me congratulate you on an excellent job of documenting Michigan Deer Camp. Out here in Idaho in th Palouse where I hunt is wide open space with average shots being taken is @ 450-650 yards. With this dynamic there aren't any Deer cam,ps that I have ever seen. But I admire this tradition where you live & hunt. That looks like a great deal of fun gathering together to celebrate our sport with other Michigonians. Thank you for taking the time to capture, edit and share hjere on KZbin. Best wishes for 2015 guys! Like you say... STAY WILD! God Bless!

You just became my favorite KZbin channell. Have only watched 2 videos but you guys share a love for rifle season that is rare. Seems every one today is into bow hunting. It's awesome to see some guys that still have that old time genuine love for opening day of rifle season. I'm 52 years old and still cant sleep the night before opening day. My brother and I are hardcore rifle hunters. We hike in for miles on National Forest here in West Virginia to find the old wise bucks which isnt easy in these steep, rugged mountains . In 2015 We hiked an hour and fourty five minutes but it payed off as about eight thirty opening day I slammed a 10 point that scored 138-5/8. Keep the videos coming and dont ever lose that spark you and your brother have.

our 1st. tent was a world war 1 tent 16x16 with 3 guys. that was a very memorable hunt.when we had been there approximately 2 nights we had a really bad windy snow storm, one minute we were playing cards, nice and warm! and the next minute the tent was gone! !!!! WTF the stove was still going but we were covered in blowing snow! !!!! what a trip. needless to say we still all got venison that year, invested in a newer tent and still have photographs of that wild time!

Michigan Gone Wild whaaaat? there is nothing like a military tent! u need to buy another one! u could even ask viewers to pitch in lol.there is nothing like waking up to a few bullet holes in the tent giving a fine lazer light show from the sun! if i had my old friends we probability would still have a tent. now day's i have to go to lake city,mi. to hunt opening day week with family. we stay in a 3/4 of a million dollar house with a bathroom for each of the 12 bedrooms, warm rooms and cooked breakfast every morning. just to be with family! Everyone has big bucks but me, im on disability. every time i hunt there i try to stay out all day, making a few sandwiches, coffee or coco and a few 1oz.shots of snapps and they always ask me why? cause i can't stand the luxury! Deer camp is not supposed to be that way! the song they play on Michigan out of doors for deer season! our tent cosited of 4 cots a foot locker between each ,no floor just a rubber mat in front of each bed, with bales of straw behind us for warmth, then a wood stove with 4 recliners around it (we had to find our chairs in the trash) then it was the kitchen, a full sized picnic table for eating, playing cards ...ect. then the actual kitchen: found shelves and tables from trash and an old 4 burner apartment natural gas stove with oven (we swapped over to propane we didn't no that we had to change the orphis from nat gas to propane the stove worked great the way it was. then came the food: we took off all the labels so we always had a suprise meal. i could go on and on about the crazy things that happened at deer camp back in the 80's but i do not want to over write myself. i long for them day's so much, and i wish i could find friends that were still interested in that. few and far between, a faithful subscriber from now on. Please bring back a tent to help keep michigan memories alive!

Great Video. Gotta love Deer Camp. I'm impressed with the deer you took on public ground. Walking a mile in is the best way to hunt public ground. It's work, but it gets you away from the congestion. Our deer are bigger down here in Ohio, but I'd give anything to have that kind of snow on opening day. Plus it's not about the size of the rack, it's about the experience - hunting with friends and family. Special Thanks to Nick for his service. Glad he got a buck on his first year back!
