In my mushroom book I had just been reading about the deadly gallerina and you said "don't mistake this for deadly gallerina" lol you helped sink that information in. Thanks again.

Your videos really help me in ID'ing the good mushrooms here in the Heartland! Pound-for-pound one of the best mushroom foraging and teaching channels on YT, and I've seen more than a few!

I found a few beef steak at a time also but back then I didn't like to do videos now it will be on my list. If you cook it taste like pork rind but I noticed you can eat it raw.

I'm told it can be eaten raw . I've only tasted a small piece raw . It is one of my favorites. I only get to find one or two a year . In fact I look for them just north of your area

I wrote my master’s thesis on Metallica. I’m sure you’ve never been told how much you look like James. 🤘🏼

Ontario is certainly Blewit country . Once you find some save the but ends and a couple caps . Keep your leaves in a pile and leave the Blewit caps and but ends in them . You should be able to keep them around

I think blewits taste like bacon when cooked in butter. They are so good.

I think they are one of the most versatile culinary mushrooms in my area. I always get excited when I find them . I did eat some a few years ago from a place where grass clippings were dumped. The taste was tainted. Probably from lawn fertilizer. A mistake I won't make again

Thank you for your knowledge. Did I see a hive tool on that plate on your table? Been keeping bees for 53 years myself. Just getting serious about mushrooms again. Used to pick “pink bellies” and stumpers with my wife’s uncle, but relied on him to identify. Could trade you some honey for a mushroom hike? I’m from Howell, Mich. Anyway, thanks again.

We would certainly enjoy a hike . This season is coming to a close so next season will have to do. We are in Sturgis Michigan so a hike in your neck of the woods will have to be planned. Hope your holiday season is filled with blessings

I have a ? I wonder if anybody can answer. Here in Mi. I was checking my woods for mushrooms mid Oct. and came across a light brownish mushroom about the size of the palm of your hand, with gills. I would guess it was late middle aged. The thing that got me was the top was slimy. So I picked it and took it in for a spore print. I already had a nice parasol spore print. Anyway I left it there and got no print after 24hrs. After that I forgot about it for another 24hrs. That evening my dog came up and put her paws on the arm of my chair and looked at me for a minute. Then she sat upright next to the chair. I kinda felt like she was trying to tell me something. I thought well maybe she wanted to hit the sack half hr early, so I headed to the bedroom. When I got there there was a horrible odor like something dead. I mean human or animal dead. First thing I thought was some animal got in the house. Looked around and there on my wooden laundry hamper sat my spore paper was that slimy mushroom. Man it was bad there was quite a bit of awful smelling water around it. I quickly rushed it to the toilet and flushed it. I'm certain my dog was trying to tell me about that awful smell. I'm mad at myself for not taking a photo of the specimen like I normally do before I pick. Anybody got an idea what this slimy dead body mushroom was?

Many species decay with noxious odor . Lactarius and armillaria among them

@@FoundYouForaging yeah I just checked some pics online and found a similar pic, the Death Cap Amanita. I was remiss in not paying closer attention. Will go out and look again. They do grow around Oak which I have many. Thanks for your post.
