Was giving a friend a piggy back ride after going to the movies. Hoisted her up and took a step and my Birkenstock sandals pulled my foot weird and led to a horrible lisfranc fracture. One of the doctors told me I’d never dance again which was wild and scary. I was told it was a severe case and I had two surgeries and multiple pins put in and was allowed to walk for 3 months. I got really good at walking with a peg leg. But now I’m back trying to work out again and struggling because I wasn’t provided with how to care for this injury after the fact. Thank you for helping!

Utmost compliments to you! There’s NO OTHER doctor who goes all the way, explaining anatomy, physiology, surgery, physical therapy, etc., and tell how long it’s REALLY GOING TO TAKE for total healing or frankly, sometimes it’s better to accept that it’s as good as it gets! Other doctors don’t really seem to like telling the truth! You give practical, sincere demonstrations helpful physical therapy that encourages people to DO this at home and how important it is for healing. I’m happy with my future surgeon, but I’m a complex case and the one thing I know to STRESS to all future surgery patients is LOSE WEIGHT BEFORE SURGERY! If at all possible! I appreciate your channel so much! Love the the education and presentation! Please, don’t ever stop! You’re a GEM!👍😀🙏❤️

Oh my word it’s like you’ve read my mail! I just had my MRI today, we’ll see next week at my follow up appointment. I remember as I was walking wearing my Hoka 1-1 shoes I went on an uneven surface expectantly twisting my foot in a severe supination ( I was wearing a hard orthotic a podiatrist made for me several years ago which did cause my foot to supinate. I took them out of my shoes after that and threw away the shoes as they were getting old. I bought some Brooks wearing one on my left foot without the orthotic and a boot on my right foot now. Doctor said to stay off my feet as much as possible at this point. My pain has been 8 out of 10 Wearing a boot now making me more comfortable

If I only knew that my injury was oncoming from a year ago or more. Almost in early April, 2022, my foot became very painful. I always had a tiny pain there, and then bang. I am slowly recovering. No high interval training, which I do. But I did have an injury between my glute and hamstring a few years ago, I know now that this other injury led to my foot injury. For the past weeks I have iced my foot for 20 minutes a day using cold water mixed with epsom salts. My foot is getting better, but hard to say how much more longer to heal. I can feel tightness going from upper hamstring to my foot. I will have to get all these muscles loosened, including the calf muscle

I'm 12 weeks into a Lisfranc injury. Thanks for this video. This was more helpful than the OT. I started going to the pool 4 weeks ago, but had to stop (I'm a teacher) because I'm back at work. We don't have subs right now, and the doctor wanted me to start PT 2 weeks ago. I'm just going to do it at home with these exercises. I'll get some inserts also, I went to 3 doctors and none of them recommend the inserts, and I can see how it would help. I appreciate you using the foot model.

I am 12 weeks post-op from an emergent surgery for a fractured ankle, fractured metatarsal, fractured lisfranc joint and torn ligament. All from a fall. I have 11 screws and a plate in my ankle, 4 screws in my mid foot and a severed ligament was repaired with a cadaver ligament. I was in a cast for 2 weeks only, due to extreme swelling and pressure. I then moved into a boot and was zero weight bearing for 10 weeks. In the past 2 weeks I have been increasing the weight bearing. I just moved to a new ankle and foot brace a few days ago, that helps with pain control and stability. I also have a carbon fiber plate in my tennis shoe. I have been in physical therapy for 8 weeks already. I have had some "bumps" in the road with recovery, but trying my best to get through this healing process. This has been the hardest thing in my life, as far a recovery. I do appreciate the information that you provide. I have watched several of your videos on the subject. I really appreciate it!

After watching this video I’m not sure if I actually have a lisfranc injury. I have been suffering terribly with pain in my heel. At first I thought it was plantar fasciitis but nothing seems to help that, then I thought it was possibly something to do with my heel pad but again recommendations didn’t help. I realized that before the summer I removed my metatarsal pads from my walking shoes (I exercise 30-45 minutes in the morning and then walk 2-4 miles late afternoon). I added back the metatarsal pad just below the ball of my foot and voila, no pain. It seems to me that I was even having a slight burning feeling in my heel but now nothing. I don’t know what that part of my foot is called - it is the center of my foot just below the ball of my foot and seemingly starting on the 2nd metatarsal bone. (If that is the correct term).

I had lisfranc surgery(+ bunion fusion & pin/screws for a stress fracture mid foot)22 days ago. I had a SEVERE bunion, which was the impetus for an MRI, which revealed the lisfranc to have healed from a tear in the past(I believe about 3 years ago, I “sprained” my foot. But it “heeled” quickly, so🤷‍♂️), & my mid foot had moved 2mm to the right?(idk the exact details of that, but I’m sure you do)& my Dr. said any more movement could result in eventual collapse of my foot. Hence, the surger(ies). I feel GREAT, I’ve had very little pain, even immediately after the surgery, & frankly I’m beyond ready to start walking. Is this normal to feel so good so soon after this surgery? Thanx!

This was really very helpful in understanding this injury. I had surgery for my lisfranc injury in Jan this year with 3 screws put in to hold up the arch. After 2 months in cast, in March the cast came off. My recovery is not very good. Doing the towel pull exercise. Can you recommend more exercises to mobilize the ankle and reduce the pain in plantar area? I also have swelling around the area of surgery, more like that area is rock hard and not edematous. Thanks for this enlightening video.

I had lisfranc surgery 2 months ago. Just started therapy yesterday, but the exercises they gave me are for the ankle, I looked at the title of the printouts and specifically says ankle exercises. Does that make any sense? Nothing compared to the exercises in your video. What worries me is that from the beginning my journey has been a nightmare as doctor diagnosed my injury 9 months ago as a sprain ankle, which was not accurate. It took a lot of pain and lack of mobility for them to realize it was misdiagnosed. Great video!

I know what you mean. Five weeks after my cast removal, my foot and ankle was still very stiff that I still needed one crutch to help me walk. Physio has me doing foot/ankle flexing exercises every hour and I set a timer to remind me, and if I skip it my stiffness increases again. It will take a while to diminish.

@m.taylor I went back to work at 7 weeks. One week in. As long as I manage the top foot swelling I've been doing okay. But the rest of my body is already out of shape for work. Every day I need to focus on how I walk and not carrying too much so that I do not obstruct my vision. The at home workout and doing the other foot, leg, really does make a difference. Also invest in better shoes. The hoka wide with bondi Sr kind are I believe the only reason I've lasted a week. Lol. Good luck in your recovery

What if the pain is in the mid foot but on the bottom. I've had plantar fasciitis before, but this is different. Pain is isolated in the bottom and the middle. No immediate event that initiated any pain. Have recently gone back to squats and began to feel some mild foot pain in this spot. The morning after doing calf raises was when it went off the charts. Once up and on my feet for awhile it's a tolerable level of pain, but never completely gone...better in shoes than barefoot. Does this sound like Lisfranc?

Broke my foot 6 days ago trying to run full speed with untied steel toes while I was half in the bag thought it was just badly sprained. Had to catch train next day from Niagara to Ottawa, couldn’t bare weight next day, fat foot to the max, ended up hoping around Toronto station and eating shit trying to catch connecting bus to Ottawa to get my car was on ground in front of Scotiabank centre for 45 minutes until ems came. Ended up in Toronto hospital waiting for 5 hours until doctor took X-ray and CT scan, doctor ended up saying I might have chip in foot but when I got the news did a whole number to my foot few fractures, couple ligaments fucked up. Lol 85 dollars for cad from hospital to Mississauga to uncles house fuck sakes. At least we got the manulife. That was a rough example, the point is don't exercise a fresh injury unless your doctor clears you. Rehab is great but not when immediately injured.

Hello, I have a lisfranc sprain, and a bruised foot, and when I stand for more than 1-2 minutes the foot I injured is noticeably more red/purple and veinier than my uninjured foot. Elevation immediately brings it back to normal. Is this just part of healthy healing inflammation? Can I wear a compression sock? It gets so swollen that it feels like pins & needles on my big toe & I can feel the veins on the top of my foot arch. Hurts to fit into shoes with the injured foot, extremely squished. It’s been 6 weeks and I haven’t been able to stay off of it, because of my job. Now I’ve been fired & need to recover so I can work! Please help! Thanks in advance & thanks for your insight!

@@dvillatoro2254I wore a cast for many weeks and they said the fracture healed but I still cannot stand on my tip toes without intense pain in my mid foot where the Lisfranc fracture is/was, so I think something was missed in my diagnosis. I think my chip fracture did not fully reattach to the main bone...or it is poor alignment in the healing. I am hoping it is just caused by extreme stiffnessin the foot because I do not want to have to undergo surgery.

I play basketball and tore my Lisfranc I had surgery may 3rd so it been almost a month. My doctor told me at first that with these type of injuries can vary depending on the severity of the injury and he said it could take up to 6-12 months to be able to go back to playing aau games. I aha e a plastic screw acting as the ligament and there is also like a metal button it think he said or something like that and I was just wondering based on what I told you do you think I could rehab it faster somehow? I also forgot to mention I have two incisions one on the middle of my foot and one on the side.
