When I saw them in Atlanta, I was 15 feet from Nikki and somehow his bass was playing itself while he has both hands off it and gesturing to the crowd. There was definitely a bass track playing his parts. Mick probably got tired of being the only musician actually PLAYING his instrument. There were drum tracks too, but not on every song like Nikki's bass......and Vince....well he sounds like a dying gremlin gargling with Drano who doesn't even care enough about the fans to remember the words to the songs. They need to retire and take KISS with them. Only one I have any respect for is Mick.

Yeah I pretty much agree. I think John 5 is a superior guitarist, but that isn't the point. Mick wrote a LOT of memorable/known riffs that helped the band get to the heights they achieved. It is easy now, years later, to forget but Motley Crue was huge fore a solid 6 years in the 80s and pretty big the rest of them...a lot of which had to do with good riffs. I obviously don't know the inner working of he band, but through the years they've all seemed very willing/quick to turn on one another.

@@Barnabus007 💯 1994 Mötley Crüe was poorly received even if it aged rather well. Few liked Generation Swine. No one remembers New Tattoo, and Mars wasn’t even on Saints of LA. These guys are riding high on the nostalgia wagon, yet Sixx seems bent on derailing that ride. I don’t hate John5 but he’s never written a successful hit. Beside dressing goofy like Sixx, I don’t see how he fits in. IMHO, these guys were at their best when they were trying to be The Sweet or The Sex Pistols. They haven’t had a success since.

I think Crue wanted to get rid of Mick even back in 84 cause Crue was in their prime partying/drug days and Mick was older and wasn't into that. I think they wanted a Robbin Crosby type they could do blow and heroin with and get into orgy's backstage etc. they wanted someone like them. Had they done that, they would have burned out quick. Mick was the constant voice of reason and kept the band together.

I can't imagine Motley Crue being what they are without Mich Mars. He has a level head on his shoulders and is a rock-solid guitar player that helped write some of the group's best tunes. I believe the story about the group wanting to replace him in '87. Mick is several years older than Nikii, who is the second oldest in the group, followed by Vince who is two years younger, then Tommy who is two years younger than Vince. As image-conscious as the '80s are, I think they figured that with a younger guitar player that they could break through to the next level, which they achieved on Dr. Feelgood. An album that is not as strong if not for Mick's riffs and songwriting chops. I love The Crue, but the drama drives me crazy. Shut up and rock. Let the music do the talking.

That original band just looked & sounded perfect. Mick had that mystique & aloofness, which was such a cool contrast to the other guys, almost like original KISS with the unique personalities. But, visually, he fit. And, musically, he was also perfect, with those signature riffs and sound. You have to remember the time period. It was the era of Van Halen clones, and Mick was never one. Which is *why* his playing has aged better than all those guys. Mick also wasn't a chick magnet like the other three. So I can imagine what they were thinking; get someone who plays more like Eddie, and is younger and cuter. Yet doing so would've made them more like a flood of other now largely forgotten 80s bands. Daisley was on the money; when you've got a working chemistry, don't f--k with it.

Motley has been using backing tracks for things OTHER than backing vox and synths for at least 10 years. Including guitar backing tracks. Mick may well have been playing on top of them, but there were 2-3 guitar tracks available. And if you watch the live vids posted online long enough, you will hear bass playing but Nikki's hands are no where near the right position.

I thought about this last night, ONLY Mick could have carried the Crue gig. He was/ is perfect for Motley. He was not flashy. ( which was a rarity in those days) He always held up Jeff Beck as his " guy", the one he modeled after, his playing was absolutely meat and potatoes, the song was shaped and carried on those distinctively " Mick" chords and notes. I love that band when I was a kid in the 80's. Mick is a rare talent that can play memorable, catchy, no gimmicks rock n roll. And this is his reward? It's pretty clear Tommy , Nikki , and Vince are trying to Pull a Paul Stanley and Gene Simmonds move on Mick devaluing him in the the Band . Paul and Gene got rid of Ace , Peter , and Vinnie very similarly trying to Cut them out of Royalties on their Parts in the band's Music , and their makeup designs . Kiss has been doing that Lip Syncing thing and Backup Click Tracks for the last two years , so Motley thought they could do that too .

If you think about it. Mick's guitar riffs and Vince's unique singing style are Motley Crue's sound. The other two could be replaced and it would still sound like Motley Crue. Damn, they tried to fire him back in 84'?!?!? Micks' always been my favorite and while he's not the flashiest player, he fits in perfectly for Motley Crue. He can certainly do anything he's required to. Quite brazen of them to pull this on Mick, esp. when their singer is Vince Neil.

The rest of the band has always shit on Mick Mars. They tried to replace him mid tour on the shout at the Devil tour. Mick is Motley Crue. Without Mick, Motley Crue is X-mas.

To me it was Mick that made and kept me a big fan. Other than Mick Tommy was the only other hot player in the Crue. They were all important in the early years when they were writing the classics but since then I only kept up with them because of Mick and Tommy to an extent. No Mick I'm not a fan.

Kudos to Mick.. The Only cool component of the band.. And for putting up with his egotistical band mates for a few decades.. Geeeeez.. Although.. I think Vince is cool. I used to Praise Nikki.. I Used to be under his spell.. Not Anymore.. I snapped out of it.. Woke up to myself.. Moved on. This is not a war between Mick and Crue.. This is a war between Mick and Nikki. 1. Mick was very stable, without an ego. 2. If he had the ego that the others had, no way the original lineup would have made it past 3 years. 3. Micks capabilities were limited. He was solid however not even close to D'Martini or Lynch. 4. I'll say again, if he had an ego, they wouldn't have made it with original lineup. He was an anchor of stability. 5. Having said all that, he did quit the tour, his own words explain that. 6. The tour is how they bring in revenue. 7. I've never heard the other band members criticize him publicly. He's the one who all of the sudden after over 40 years, blasts them publicly. All above can be true at the same time. 8. John 5 has brought some new buzz to the tour.
