Mickey Newbury is one of my most favorite singer/songwriters...He was so humble, so down to earth , so unpretentious and so passionate about his music....He will always be one of the Greatest musicians we had...Thank you for posting this beautiful tune...I do so appreciate it TY... ~Marianne...

I can’t believe having grown up with country music I had never heard of this guy. This song was a random play on my “google” when I. Asked her the name of the song and artist and fell in love with it immediately. Now I’m listening to all of his songs and making up for lost time! I guess you’re never to old to learn something new. RIP Mickey!

Mickey was one of the very greatest, and one of my favorite songwriters of all time! No one has to power to move me as deeply as he by his songs and his singing. I used to write for Accuff-Rose Publishing, and one of my greatest regrets is that I never got to meet him or tell him what a profound impression he had made on me.

Agreed - he was tremendous in many ways. But I think he knew though we didn't get to tell him in person...

Always been one of my favourite Mickey Newbury compositions-productions...ever since I bought the double album Live At Montezuma-Looks like Rain back around 1975....subtle but crisp production...still sounds perfect today.

Hearing this for the first time and wondering how I'd missed it before now. I knew parts of this song from Joan Baez's album "Blessed Are" but under a different title: "Angeline". Wish I'd looked for Mickey Newbury long, long ago. Beautiful.

Hi Bob. very nice post of Mickey N.'s song. I have just recently discovered Mickey via Johnny Cash' version of Poison Red Berries (and Andy Willams' cover od Sweet Memories), and been hopelessly hooked ever since. Would you also have lyrics for his 33rd of August classic... or for that matter, any of his songs whose lyrics you might have? Thanks.

It is such a sad case that this album is not available on CD. I would SO love to have it, if only for this song. I see LP's for sale, but I'm afraid that they will be of poor quality. For me the most beautiful song he has made.

Natascha, I just wanted to let you know that there was a rerelease of this album on CD! If you go to www.mickeynewbury.com you can find it there. I just happened upon your comment by accident but wanted you to know about it!

@@MamaLCherry or go ahead and get the LP on vinyl, unless its wrecked it'll probably sound noticeably better than a CD. not to mention the nostalgia ;-)
