The problem with "commonly available" cell phone batteries is finding one that isn't counterfeit junk. Few buyers have the capability like many of us do to actually test capacity, so Chinese counterfeiters have a field day on Amazon, eBay, and, in my experience, even reputable battery sources. So, basically, the one you get with your phone or, in this case, a Pi power source is the last authentic cell you'll ever see. Lithium ion counterfeiting is rampant.

True, when there’s a huge market, there will always be counterfeits

I noticed Tag-Connect headers on the primary side of the Pi power board. It would be interesting to see if one is a debug port(10 pin) and the 6 pin header programs the STM32. I love those Tag-Connect tools, they are easy to use and I recommend them to all our customers wanting to save space and money.

Great to see you back! When I saw your channel pop up I knew what I had been missing :-) BTW - Have you checked that lorawan antenna with an antenna tester? The aliexpress antenna tester (cheapest - not a sponsor - model N1201) finds about half the products I buy have either a completely wrong, or marginally off frequency antenna. I'm often popping the plastic top off and trimming or extending the lead.

Yeah used to SWR in CB antennas back in the day. But yup maybe should do a video on that!

Yet more evidence that you're down the street from a concert Audio/video/lighting company. The pattern is called a "gobo". The colors are "gels". Mount the thing on a swinging gimble and you've got a lightshow. If anything you've got a cool shelf decoration.

Mick, Python script has NO magic number! It is a text file! For a python script to be executable you need to add #!/usr/bin/env python as the first line. Magic numbers matter only for binaries and even then not all binaries have them (it depends on the file format).
@MickMake5 жыл бұрын
Every file has a magic number. The only reason a script file becomes a script is the presence of the hash-bang “magic number” sequence. Also a python script can have #!/usr/bin/python, using /usr/bin/env is a security hole, (although is convenient).

Had me worried to death, well almost, I do have stage 4 lung cancer but I’m trying to avoid the dying bit. Missed the videos as it always gives me a bit of knowledge (because I’m thick not because you don’t cover the stuff well) and things to think about. Glad you are back. This LORA stuff fascinates me but I haven’t made the leap, there’s an investment and like I say I’m no expert when it comes to SBC.

What a nice amount of motorized faders! Someone did a new install on a audio mixer... you can make cool things with them, what about a noce motorized teensy midi controller! Maybe with the new crazy teensy4 😬 About the gobo/color wheel, nothing special looks quite old, without the right lamp and lenses it will be difficult to get something done, and if they trashed it, probably it has burnt stepper motors (overheating is typical in moving lights)

I would love to send it to you to examine on your channel, however I have to wait for a Telstra tech to come and replace it. Would you be interested in examining the photos of it? Glad to see you are doing OK! For the content, I'm happy with whatever I get. I can be hard to keep up too. I prefer quality over quantity. And I prefer the reviews, then the mailbag videos. The roundups are okay, but weekly is too much, and it needs to be tighter. I'd say make them monthly with just the best stuff, and maybe just a small quick hit section at the end.

The sound desk sliders would be most desirable (I think) if they were made compatible with mackie control surface, eventually. It would probably make sense to have them connected via modern usb so that you can have a network protocol mode or just plain old usb and also a usb-c might have say display port support so you can get the 8channels (and up) sound (and long cable, as that help keep studio sound isolated form noisy computers and stuff). So say sort of like hdmi (not directional) but better. Also you'd get enough power to drive those motors (or are they servos?). While I'd like to suggest rj45 ethernet with power-over ethernet, I doubt it'd be good enough unless used with specific software (although win2012 or win2016 could maybe be cool to do it with). Hence displayport being the choice and over usb-c such as the LatterPanda Streaming cable that supports RNDIS. It could also mean video could later be added per slider if you ever have a tiny screen on each slider (for say setting or a touchscreen slider/dial mode). Then the slider could send its video signal to the computer (e.g. desktop-PC monitor), but could also receive the desktop's video signal to it, such as a 480p display as if the computer has a great many monitors (which could be real or virtualised) controlled (easily) via remoteFX such as from windowsserver2012 and upwards (or server2016). If however, you cannot be bothered to do all that (which is fair enough even though it'd be cool), I think an RS232 might be a insufficient choice when a GPIO could be converted into that RS232 (but not the other way around). That way anything from a simple microcontroller for RS232 or a full raspberry-pi or a fpga could be added. So you can have RS232 but are not limited to it. It feels almost like midi might be a nice addition.
