Yes I also think she would be hilarious an also give good honest critiques, but I also know its just not her thing. She don't care about that, she said a long time ago in an interview that Ru asked her an she declined. She said yes to the Drag U thing cuz it was different from Drag Race.

My love for Bunny knows no bounds. I was lucky enough to catch her in 1984 at Backstreet Atlanta, months before she and Ru and Larry made the trek to NYC. I said "join me for a few drinks?" and she very graciously told me to put that 15 bucks (remember, this was when drinks were cheap) in the tip jar for the bartender, and introduced me to Charlie Brown, saying "this Southern boy was brought up right, he knows how to treat a Lady." That's class. It's a moment I will never forget.

I am so happy this conversation happened. It totally boggles my mind that people completely miss the point of drag. When you wake up in the morning and put on your "woman" clothes, "man" clothes, "I'm a gay person" clothes, "INSERT WHATEVER" clothes, YOU ARE IN DRAG. Drag for me has always been about conscious play with IDEAS ABOUT WHO WE ARE rather than who we actually are which extends far beyond any label. I'm excited for boy and man drag and weirder non gender conforming drag to become a thing because I think it will create space for us to move further out of the prison of identity. The other point mentioned in this video that I want to applaud: HOW IS THIS COMMUNITY SO VICIOUS?! Queer spaces are a perfect example of internalized hatred and abuse. After being misunderstood and abused by mainstream society, now we mistreat and slander individuals within our own "community" for being different...or rather different than what is expected.
@roarlexroar6 жыл бұрын

I think that Bianca was the first queen on drag race to bring back that signature New York, clownish, theatrical makeup look, since all we had been seeing before her season was fishy and peagent makeup (maybe with the exception of Sharon). So when she came on stage the first time, even the judges commented on how harsh her makeup looked. Then Trixie came along and took clown makeup to a whole other different place, and queens are now starting to go beyond that fishy look much more often on the show.

Sasha Velor also was very different compared to the "expected" pagent drag. It's the only thing, that I don't like about Michelle Visage judging drag race is her focus on everything being "Glamour Drag" and if anyone doesn't follow that cookie cutter gets marked down. The one I really got angry about was Katia and a Hello Kitty challenge where Michelle ripped her outfit, but it actually was a Japanese character on the front of the outfit, she just couldn't see it and it ended up sending Katia home. @nucomme6 жыл бұрын
BB it’s because they don’t want to be on drag race. They have been asked and respectfully declined.
@Russkivol6 жыл бұрын
That's only partially true. Bunny *was* on Drag U, so it is not necessarily accurate that Bunny did not want to have any association with DR. As for Jackie, I think the fact that the original idea for "Drag Race" was hers and registered with the WGA...and then the WoW rich kids & Rupaul swooped in with a similar concept probably chaps Jackie's weenie. Plus, when has anyone heard Jackie Beat say anything particularly complimentary about the show? Outside of Bob & perhaps Bianca, Jackie has never said much about anyone who has competed on the show. Finally, from what I have read over the years about the show, the reason there is no drag performer on the judging panel is because Rupaul refuses to have another drag queen at the desk as far as DR is concerned. Drag U was a different case because Rupaul was never in drag on that show--part of the reason why it was cancelled if we are all honest...
@slimlouis64416 жыл бұрын
I agree! Lipsynca, Coco Peru! They also are legends and perhaps they don’t want to associate with the show. Or maybe as someone else mentioned here, Ru doesn’t want to ever be upstaged. The people he invites back compliment him but never out do him.

The fact that you reference Millie Jackson makes me revere you Bunny. Amazing. Great interviewing by Even, as usual.

Why is Lady Bunny never been RPDR’s judge? She’s amazing! 🐰💄✨

i never understood that either... Who would be a better judge for drag race than rupaul's drag mother?

She was on Drag U tho

She declined, and if you really listened to the interview you'd hear unequivocally that she's not interested in judging on RPDR because of the manufactured "storyline", the weird standards, too much preference for pageantry, the restrictions (highlighter, lashes, et al) and so on. I doubt she will ever be a judge because of her views on Drag Race and its production team.

Does anyone watch the entire video before commenting? Bunbun doesn't want to be I the show. She doesn't want to judge queens. Drag U was different, it was judging women.

I met lady bunny at a runway show and I was so scared to ask for a picture but I ended up doing it anyway and she was the nicest person ever! So sweet and took the time to talk to me and take a few pictures.

The thing with Drag Race now is that they have a lot of kids with surgeries and pretty faces but little talent if we compare it with the first rounds of seasons...

This interview with Bunny should be required viewing for problematic fans. If you’re at a drag show and you’re not performing, then you’re a spectator, not a judge. Social media has a lot to answer for. Everyone has been given a platform for their opinions, which has led too many people to believe their opinion is required or worthwhile when it really is just the opposite.

Preach Lady Bunny! I was at Backstreets in Atlanta back the late 80’s early nineties. Variety makes it better! 🌹❤️🌹

I remember about 10 years ago, I was in a taxi in the west village, when I saw Lady Bunny running across the street and around a corner. Was like seeing a real live unicorn! 🦄 loved it!!!

Lady Bunny is right. I started drag at 14 years old and I'm 50 now . I love drag race but it's not reality it's as she said it's a competition show

About time Bunny gets her place in Rupaul's dragrace. I want to hear her opinion....,who gives a shit about what Ross Matthews or Carson Kressley have to say. Really.
@tigcheru6 жыл бұрын
oh my god. Amen to that! Especially Ross! like what qualifies you to be a judge on a drag show? You were just an intern on a popular show and a guest on chelsea lately. None of that qualifies in my eyes!

Ru asked her a long time ago and she declined. She’s said in interviews that she has no interest in it. She did do drag u though.
@UncleAndy465116 жыл бұрын
That was soooo much T!! Lady Bunny saying that Ru does not make her outfits, does not do her own hair and makeup or accessaries. But she judges other people who do all that themselves. I realize Ru has worked long and hard and deserves to be where she is at. Now she can afford the luxury of having things done for her and done well. Shout out Delta and Raven. Lots of Love and kindness.

UncleAndy46511 plus the work required to do that day after day for two months would be exhausting. A show needs people to manage the costumes, hair and makeup. It’s a professional operation because it needs to look professional on air.

You don't see this side of Lady Bunny often, and I thought her opinions were interesting and she had the receipts to back them up.

I love that Lady has her gripes with RPDR and even Ru himself, but she's supportive of the queen's, works with them, DJs at some of Ru's events, and can remember the past queens BETTER THAN RU CAN. an icon. (this sounds like I'm dissing Ru, but that's not my intent. oops.)

It's called arm chair thinking. You know, you just sit and judge things that you don't do. Lady Bunny, I've been to a short show in Denver and I love you for saying that we are not all meant to be the same. That has been keeping me alive for the last few years.
