Because they want to at least hook you in to login everyday, and then feel like you've wasted 2 months grinding 300 out of 1,000 premium currency that you need to unlock the thing you want. So the sunk cost fallacy sets in and you feel like it's a bigger waste to give up after all this time, than to pay $10 to get what you wanted and maybe use that 300 crystals for some useless weapon skin or an EXP buff.
