Love it.... I do it at 1.5 to 2mm every 2-3 weeks depending on sun, breakouts and my retinol protocol (if in a peel I don't needle til skin barrier nice and healthy). This is how I do it 1. Cleanse 2. Use a gel chemical exfoliator, and rinse. I NOW APPLY TOPICAL ANAESTHETIC and cover with cling film for 15m. Then I remove one section at a time, WIPE OFF ANAESTHETIC with warm cloth or make up microfiber circle and do the following: 3. Apply a thick antioxidant (resveratrol or pycnogenol by the ordinary are fab) serum for slippage. 4. On fatty parts of face, do circular motions at 1.5 or even 2mm for around 15 circles each (15 circles on each cheek, on the chin, upper lip, the masseter, the neck.) 5. On fine skin, such as under the eyes and forehead, I do 5 circles each per side at .25mm, sometimes just with a nano cartridge, depending how thin my skin feels at that time... Depends on my hydration levels.. if not properly hydrated my skin feels thinner so I'll swap to a nano cartridge for thin areas rather than damage the skin. 6. Apply a good hyaluronic acid (I buy my own pure grade hyaluronic acid, copper peptides and growth hormones and make my own so I can get the Dalton size I want, and strength of copper and growth factor I want, without perfume, and other chemicals... I keep it in the fridge, and make enough for 2 weeks) 7. Apply a good Korean sheet mask for 20m 8. Pat in remainder of serum from mask 9. Apply face oil to lock in nutrients 10. Apply 50 plus sunscreen. For the following week I use the My CLE Carita device (microcurrent and led) for 10m p d to increase collagen production and speed healing, which my copper peptides help with. I also consume 20g of hydrolysed collagen per day in my morning coffee. Remember to take a multivitamin as well as vit c aids absorption... Oh, also occasionally I will add ascorbic acid powder into my palm to mix with my hyaluronic acid serum, but only the day AFTER, as I do go quite deep and it's stings. I use Dr pen ULTIMA M7 with a 36 needle cartridge. I also use it to put pigment into my lips (with topical anaesthetic as I goes deeper). In between, I use the same pen every morning at .25mm to ensure my serums go in properly. I replace my needle cartridge weekly, and in between rinse in under boiling water, let it drip dry. After my main deep treatments (which I always do with a new cartridge) I'll put it needle side down in an egg cup of alcohol to sterilise it. My protocols must be working. I'm 52 next week and often people think I'm late thirties, early 40s at most... My mom has great skin though, and she's 78 xxx I make my own creams and lotions too full of good oils and fats full of vitamins etc... My neighbours dry, spotty skin is totally clear after using my products so if anyone wants the recipes just shout. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to us diy'ers Dr Rajani, you're the best! I totally love your channel.... And you look FABULOUS daaahling 😊

I love micro needling... I typically infuse retin A or copper along with a brightening serum with natural brighteners such as kojic acid and arbutin. You forgot to mention how important it is to not overdue. I never microneedle more than once a month, usually it’s about once every six weeks. You must give your skin time to remodel itself. 😉🙏🏼

@@Sunny-sf1no Hi Barbara, I actually think you could microneedle any part of the body so yes you certainly can do it on your abdomen. The key would be to then infuse some good firming ingredients such as DMAE . I would do some research on exactly what are the best ingredients for skin tightening and then apply that after the micro needling for the best effect. It’s definitely worth a try!

@@komalali8899 hi there Komal, it’s actually quite easy if you start with a roller. There are many many KZbin videos on technique. The key is to not overdo it and see how your skin reacts. You always want to microneedle over very clean skin and then take it vantage of the channels that are open in your skin and use quality ingredients afterwards. Just search how to microneedle and I’m sure many videos will pop up! good luck!

I used a .25 roller for the first time last Friday and plan on using it again this Friday. No pain. No problems. No redness. It felt tingly as I tried to sleep, though, so I wouldn't recommend doing it right before going to bed. I've read varying accounts of what should be put on afterward for cosmetic needling so I was unsure and just used HA. Woke up the next morning feeling and looking fine. It takes consistent use to make a difference so we'll see! Thanks for the video and info! Very much appreciated. I will say that I wish I could afford to utilize professional services but they're out of reach for far too many of us. I wish that wasn't the case, but alas. So we do what we can on our own.

I use the "Derminator" from Vaughter Wellness. I use the "one" which is no longer available. They only have the" two" available now. They demonstrate it on paper and I did that at home and it really doesn't create the microtears as it claims. So I feel confident about it. I have seen few KZbin videos where it did tear the skin-- but I personally never had any problems with the model I have. So to clarify you take a piece of typing paper and microneedle it. Then hold it up to the light and notice if you have tearing. I like the Derminator.

And after care is nothing but a rinse with cool water and an application of Avenes Cicalfate. Anti-inflammatory and antibacterial. Pretty good success. I love my Dr. Pen! I have acne scars that have gotten better over time because of microneedling. I can get aggressive with the needle length on my scars, but I don't need lidocaine cream because these areas aren't as sensitive as say, the tip of my nose (ouch!). I worry about granulomas, so I won't use anything other than hyaluronic acid as a slip. I am tempted to try colloidal silver gel, because silver helps in healing, but I won't because I worry about argyria. I figure a microneedling pen can also work like a tattoo needle, so we should be careful about what substances we are inject into our skin! Although, the colloidal silver does an excellent job of controlling my acne without the skin irritation normally associated with actives. I am so glad that you are not a Debbie Downer, like Dr. Dray. She clucks disaprovingly at microneedling and topical colloidal silver! These are two things that have really helped my skin. My other favorite is glycolic acid.

You. Are. A. Legend. PERIOD. I don’t think it’s hard to see that the whole “don’t do it yourself diy is bad” talk is just a way for aestheticians and dermatologists to have more job security. IMO for you- A plastic surgeon wouldn’t be affected by that topic. I don’t get the relation there, frankly. IMO- it’s 2022& medical science& tech has caught up to consumers. Finally. The fact that you told us about it 10 years ago is just exciting to me. Not to mention proof. (Hopefully the 30 year age reversal Gene is next) I mean common sense tells you to wash& clean your hand& face prior to using a dermaroller or pen??!! And to apply Neosporin or Triple antibiotic to any wound. What is more complicated or different from being in the office? Moral support? Do your research obviously just like before going to dermatologist. I think I know where my problem areas are better than anyone. And won’t pay 400$ just to miss spots and be disappointed. Part of me feels like the negative comments are from people in the field or wealthy individuals who can afford to go in for any& every problem. Because if I had it like that- where I could just throw money left and right at any activity I wanted- I would obviously do so on my face. But that’s just not my reality. So, I wish people would stop trying to scare me off& just give me information or helpful tips instead. That would be more helpful& interesting.

Derma stamp aka microneedle stamp is also an option. It doesn't make v shape openings, but it's also isn't so invasive as dermapen. I have only dermaroller because derma stamp wasn't so popular at that time when I bought dermaroller and dermapen seemed too harsh. But I'm happy with my dermaroller, my acne spots healed much faster when I used it and I'm not affraid with v shape openings that dermaroller makes, because skin needs a bit of wounds healing factor to get faster and more visible results. And I'm always, always let dermaroller soak 10min in alcohol before and after use.

I think the V shaped illustrations were probably marketing material made by pen manufacturers that wanted to convince people to buy their products instead. The skin as most people know is very flexible and those illustrations only pan out to be V shaped if you microneedle paper that easily rips. It's easy to test this too as all one needs is a needle and to wiggle it. Most people know intuitively what will happen but show them a colorful illustration that seems like it should make sense mathematically and suddenly common sense goes out the window.

I am a big fan of microneedling at home with a pen. I think that you can get treatments in the office such as Botox ect but if your skin isn’t in good condition those in office treatments don’t look as good as they could. It’s nice to see a dr. Such as yourself not be worried that this will take away business but if done safely & correctly it can help the in office treatments look their best!

I did microneedling with the roller about ten years ago when no one was talking about it and had no issues. I always did alot of different things at home and am considering getting the pen for a scar on my body. Just this year, I did kabelline on my double chin that didnt do anything, then I did kybella and saw noticeable results. I have also watched many DIY people and starting to see they are too extreme. So I am leaning towards getting services done by professionals. I booked a PRP facial and RF Nano microneedling for my neck.

This is a wonderful video full of caveats, which I appreciate. Safety is key. e.g. old needles, quality devices and parts replacement, etc. A video about 'how to create a sterile field' and blood-borne precautions (if doing someone else's skin) would also be helpful. I have a disposal bin for my needles (can be obtained from pharmacy). Harm reduction public health literature also teaches that a 2L pop bottle with secure lid can also be an option for used sharps.

Creating a sterile environment for me is as follows. 1. Wash my hands with soap and water. 2. Wash my face with gentle cleanser. 3. Dry face and hands with disposable one time use cotton towel. 4. Soak disposable cotton round with isopropyl alcohol and wipe off face, hands, micro needling device, pump on hyaluronic acid bottle, then hands again. 5. Then let the fun begin. If I wanted to take it to next level sterile I'd use sterile gauze to replace the cotton above but it's not like we're doing major surgery. I only go to 0.5 depth. Cheers!

A word to the wise - never ever use a depilatory paste - not even a “gentle” one designed for facial use - if you have microneedled or rolled within the past 48 hours. Thank you Dr Rajani for always keeping us updated on useful subjects, and I also appreciate that you don´t dismiss all diy :-). I have a dr pen device at home, I´ve had it for over a year but only used it less than 5 times. I´m probably too concerned with creating infections, scars or reactions. I read a lot, I have a lot of precautions (disinfecting before and after, using only medical hyaluronic acid for injections etc. ) so it becomes very complicated. I bought the filorga ntcf, and ended up using part of them for injection instead, I´m aware that´s more risky (and not an approved DIY use) but I strangely find it easier.

Haha, your video came an hour too late and started playing as I was cleaning up after my first appointment with Dr Pen! Think I adhered to your advice though. Have concluded that microneedling is a gateway procedure making you consider more radical courses of action that you previously thought were out of the question. As a vegetarian of 30+ yrs I've always gone out of my way to use cosmetic products that are cruelty free but of course that can't apply to anything subcutaneous/ subdermal. It's amazing what midlife desperation and limited financial resources lead you to do- I don't know who I am anymore. I never even really valued my looks but before Covid I'd just started singing around the pubs with a guitarist friend of mine which was a long held dream come true and so very fulfilling since we had some brilliant responses but 2 stones of weight loss in one year at this age combined with acute Covid stress has been brutal which isn't ideal on the stage. Your channel provides much food for thought and a rational voice when I'm teetering on the brink of recklessness. Thanks and hello from the UK. @@beatsg my apologies for delay in replying. I use the Dr A6 Pen and love it. I bought it off eBay. Yes you definitely need to use new cartridges each time. I buy them in bulk off eBay and I purchase the 12 pin cartridges. I’m doing the new regime that Penn suggested. So weekly cosmetic needling so no deeper than 0.25. At this depth I don’t need to numb. I wash my face, apply my essence (I use Tatcha essence) I then use HA to micro needle with and a water spray bottle to keep my skin moist. I work in small circles on my face, neck and chest. The aim is not to bleed but you will get a little redness. I then wash off the HA and apply the ordinary buffet with copper peptides, then Bradceuticals growth serum and tretinoin (my skin is used to tretinoin) then a good moisturiser. Then the next morning I cleanse and use my vitamin C. I always wear 50+ sunscreen especially in our climate. I do MN all year round however I also do TCA Peels of which I will only do in our winter. Thanks for your input, very informative. I would really appreciate recommendations for machines and instruments to use at home, also a reputable website t order them from. I am familiar with other peoples horror stories and do not want to make the same incredibly costly error.
