I have to admit that all these talks with Dr. Rhonda Patrick, Dr Michael Greger, and other doctors and researchers who analyze the scientific literature is very helpful! I am a university researcher too but in the neuroscience field and the amount of literature is huge. It is literally impossible to read it all. They are bringing the research to the population which it should be as almost all the research is public domain coming from taxpayers. I am deeply thankful to all those researchers who are trying to fill the gap between the research world and the community bringing the scientific knowledge to everyone!

As a fellow scientist, I would highly advice to stay clear of Michael Greger given his anti-scientific almost dogmatic systemic bias in the type of research he covers (and the literature he ignores because doesn't support his cause, i.e. veganism). Just few points proving he is just another anti-scientific fear mongerer 1) supports "the china study book" 2) claims eggs are bad for your health 3) claims fish is bad for your health 4) claims there is no healthy amount of meat you can eat 5) veggies are the cure for everything

Interesting but all research depends on outside factors ie increased rate of awareness and identification of autism, genetic inflammatory diseases, increased pollution, societal/environmental, hereditary causes of depression etc. I am glad that new Vit D and serotonin information is ongoing. Some have to ingest serotonin as a treatment for depression, which exists in all cultures to some extent regardless of diet. You mentioned that too much can cause gut inflammation, and I would hope no one stops their meds if the have both depression and an inflammatory disease. Oddly, I don’t see many comments on the animal experiments. During the 80,s we were all told by the scientific community to eat carbs not fats. The disease types and rates are evidence. No need to torture any more monkeys, dogs etc.

I would love to know what the perfect diet is and I would just eat it. I already completely cut out sugar and breads and I feel amazing.
@laserflexr63216 жыл бұрын
The problem is that the perfect diet depends on your dna, your personal history and your current lifestyle. We are all different so what is excellent advice of what to/not to eat for one person is totally wrong for the next. No easy way. You need to study what your own system doesnt seem to be doing right and study to see if there is potentially some deficiency cause for it. Most people are unwilling or unable to spend the time to discover their own deficiencies, and some even when told and supplied with documentation will refuse to do what they need to improve their health. If I see a deficiency in someone I will tell them, in one ear and out the other 99% of the time. The information is available now in a way that has never been possible in the history of humanity, do you care enough to study yourself and act on what you learn? chia seed smoothie? Really?

You would enjoy a you tube video from 2010 presented by Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez, entitled "What should I eat"? Excellent, highly informative. Surprising was the segment around 30:00 on Pregnancy, D3, autoimmune, estrogen, Tryptophan, Serotonin, pathways and their connection to autism in boys and lower autism occurrences in girls..
@g.s.58683 жыл бұрын
boys are known to get more autism because of the effect of testosterone (high) .... most people are insulin resistant : for women -> don't convert testosterone to estrogen = PCOS or high testosterone = more boys with autism ? maybe more lesbian girls when they get this testosterone high from the mother in utero ?

So please explain how vitamin K antagonists (warfarin etc) prevent blood clots, if as you say minimising Vit K doesn't affect blood clotting? Moreover surely vit K2 not K1 is responsible for directing calcium out of the soft tissue ?
@andrewrobert59746 жыл бұрын
yeah she made a mistake its vitamin k2 that is mostly responsible for removing calcium of arteries and k1 is for blood clotting but k1 can also remove calcium from arteries but nowhere near as effective as k2

Congrats, super presentation! I have a question regarding the tryptophane leucin/isoleucin problem....for example in beef (aas=1) tryptophane represents the limiting protein, so it shouldn't be pushed over by leucine because they absorb in the same quantity. In this case who has advantage regarding the receptors (I mean if they are present in the same concentration) ?

What is a good brand of omega three to take. Thanks

Sardines

It seems you can't really get a decent capsule of omega 3. It's probably been sitting on the shelf far too long by the time you've bought it. The fresh foods are the best, or the only way to get it. Oily fish like salmon or sardines would be the best.

I'm very sceptical/surprised about the particular statement 1000IU -> + 5ng/ml. My understanding from other sources (I'm just a layman however) is that 5000 IU per day is just enough to keep the same Vitamin D level for a person with a body weight of ~70 kg - which would be quite consistent with your experience. To raise the Vitamin D level you would need magnitudes more (depending once again on your body weight and how much you want to raise your vitamin D level). I'm not an expert but I suggest to take a look on current literature and reports on this topic.
