Thank you for this video! I'm using the new Yammer version, and for some reason I don't have the live event feature, or the option to feature posts. Would you know why? Thanks again!

Hi Emily! This video is a year old now and there has been a new yammer update. I'll do another video with updates.

Great video. Now I know how to set up Yammer to have black background, to have sound notification when get a message etc... Or I just learned who Ryan Zimmerman is? Was. Before retired. And played on my fantasy baseball teams. Where we could talk about him. And other players. But not on Yammer.

Great Video! Very informative! Im trying to pitch to the RH dpt. of my office to implement this, and one question they will surely ask is about moderation of the private groups, considering anyone can create them, and not just admins. Do you have any insights on how it works? Thanks!
@capitolpresence3 жыл бұрын
So you can set restrictions on who can create teams and groups. That would require an administrator to create a Team (in MS Teams) and to create Yammer Groups.

@@capitolpresence I see! But I dont think restricting the permission to create a group is the way to go, as people would miss out (or at least go through some extra trouble involving an admin) on those surprise baby showers situations... I was wondering if it is actually possible to a moderator to access the contents of private groups, regardless of his account being a member of the community or not. I'm sorry if I'm being confusing, and thank you in advance for your fast reply!

@@joaoaldonassifneto7530 Ah, I understand your question no. So you can utilize 365 groups in Yammer, however a Yammer Group does not create a 365 Group (meaning there is no Azure ad group created). You can use Azure AD groups in Yammer, but not the other way around. Hope that clears it up! The group creation should be made at the MS Teams level, because that does create an Azure AD group.

@@capitolpresence That is so cool! Thank you! I'm still not clear about the modderation of community content though. Can a mod browse/interact with the contents of a private community, even though he may not be a member of it?
@capitolpresence3 жыл бұрын
@@joaoaldonassifneto7530 So a Yammer Community owner can only see the content in that specific community or group. Yammer verified admins, can see all communities and can moderate all. So I can see, in your example of the baby shower, when throwing a baby shower for a Yammer verified admin or Global admin could be problematic. Hope this helps!

Is there a Yammer community for people who know that, as the inventor of the GIF format has said, the acronym is pronounced the same as the name of the peanut butter, because "Choosy developers choose GIF?"

Otherwise said : Microsoft Office's Facebook ... some differences but on the whole it's quite the same. No added value comparing the one with the other.

The added value is control and integrating it within your environment through Power Automate, something you can't do within FB. Remember, it's not the platform and data, but what you can do to manipulate and control the data.

Nevertheless, it is still kinda microsoft trying to create a social network which, according to your saying would have some benefits workwise comparing with FB but hey ... we all know how this works, don't we? First trying something in a work-related environment and if this works, expanding this to the broader public and then you confirm my opinion namely that this would be kinda imitation of/concurrence with FB. Even then, purely workwise, there are already a lot of tools within and out of Microsoft to communicate in different forms intra and extra companies, so there also Micorsoft gives no added value ... at the end one is fed up with all those communication methods. Where are the times that companies were run simply and ... this was also working? In my company, sometimes we do an exercise, namely to put all kinds of electronic communication down ... the experience learns that in that case, practically everyone is panicking and has no back-upplan so conclusion. Use not too much tools/programs etc, for communicating and planning and so forth but limit this in your company.. Finally, let's keep quiet about manipulating and controling data, we all know the bad consequences related to that.

@@hinderyckxg correct. It is a type of social platform. But you need a Microsoft account. It's not secure and you control the data. So it's not a social media platform as in its public.
