I cannot tell you how thankful I am that you have these out here. I was struggling to the point of tears in my database management class. Once I got through these tutorials, I found Access so simple that I wondered why I had been so afraid of it. It takes a lot of data entry, but it really is simple to use.

Thank you. I have watch this series from beginning to end and started over for a second time. YOUR information above all others I have tried to watch is the absolute best because when you say for ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS -- you not only mean it but you are able to teach it as such and that makes your series, in my opinion, heads above all others. What I am trying to do is learn this . amongst a great many other things, so I can create a DATA BASED -APP. I didnt know how to code until a couple of months ago and started to put my wireframes into code and realized I needed to create a data base system first. I have a ways to go before I will be done with everything but I appreciate not having to waste my time with your series because your information is SPOT ON and -NOT- a waste of time like the PLETHORA of other videos I tried to endure and understand. I wish you had a APP development course you could create. ROCK ON. W. James Rapp THE LAZY R

This is a good refresher, I have been using an older version and its like getting back to the gym. One thing with this lesson, when you deal with users who may think they know database you have to be careful whenever you use the word delete... in design view on a query, when you delete a column, make sure you emphasize the data is not deleted, you state later that query is not real data, you have to let "know it all type zealots" real time, deleting a column in design view does not delete the data. I have had several bad experiences with impatient users who want the power of Access to fast.

@@599CD my knowledge base has seriously grown because of you over the course of the last 7 years. Today I can do some pretty cool things with MS access because of you. Currently I'm creating an Inventory database that goes out to the web (MS EDGE) and grabs product data using a Python script and inserts the collected data into an access database via an SQL Insert string/command. I've Been working hard on this project for last 6 months but am still far from complete. The trick to my python code was to make my code flexible enough to pull data from any website and then update the data in my database thru use of some global functions I created.

I'm currently taking Access in College and the book I had to buy for over $100 wasn't teaching the concepts you already have. Knowledge and tips from someone who has obviously used this program, on what works best and what doesn't is invaluable. This system should be used in schools instead of making students buy overpriced books that don't. I'm going to look into taking more classes from you.

Thank you - just learn more through the query. But I did at the beginning entered the HomeAdress differently then your table. I put all the homeaddress in the same field. I could have separate them but for me for this purpose of my database it work better if I have the address in one cell. I don't have to select the different state. However, I did include yes or no in one of the field and this is where the query help me to find out who I need to mail to.

It seems pretty crude that you have to move fields in the query so you can order the sorts. In excel you can designate first, second, third columns for sorting. Do you have to move the fields after you run the sort query to get them to display FirstName LastName if the boss wants it that way?
@599CD2 жыл бұрын
You move them in design view to change the sort order. You can display them later however you want.

Hello, I have to make a table, 2 queries, and a report for a class of mine and I'm running into difficulties. I made my initial table and it came out fine but when I need to make my first query, which needs to only have the data for male clients in a certain state, I can't seem to get the query to work. I can however get it t work when i make a separate table with only the male clients but I will have points removed for doing so. I also can't get my report to auto-fill the data from my 2nd query that has only clients from a certain city,state. Please help if possible.

there is a lesson where you explain how to use query or table data to automatic fill info into some other documents? for example: I have a privacy form that customer have to sign, can i use a query to generate them in ms word? ty
@599CD4 жыл бұрын
You want to automatically populate the customer's data in a report? Just create the report and based it on the customer table. Or make a privacy form table if you want to store that information as well (date signed, etc.) and then create a query based on both tables, and use that for the report.
