Microsoft have released for the first batch of player improved airports. These have arrived from the new World Hub. Also, the latest info on Update 15 is available thanks to the ongoing beta test.

How is the sim for gliding now? Is it a useful training aid?

With the tools the World Hub mode offers, the best we can do for you at this point in time is to replace the wheat fields with gravel traps. Just send me a list with the airfields you want gravelified.

@@Zadren we've done upwards of 300 multiplayer cross country tasks in MSFS, most recent was Wednesday with a little over 30 pilots flying, have another 350km flight today (Almeria .. Gibralta in Spain) so we're doing pretty well with soaring in MSFS. For *training* though it's obviously a bit sketchy - in terms of fidelity there's no real relationship between the lift and the clouds so that's the most fundamental part missing, but TBH the main challenge is the same as for power flying: there's zero risk flying in the sim so we learn to have a safety margin much much lower than real lift would require.

The ground handling improvements are sooo overdue. I swear there's some bugs/glitches too where when I land sometimes the plane will act like the tailwheel/rudder is full lock to the left and you go sailing off into the grass or ground looping for no reason

If you have around 30 cm of snow then likely all the lakes in that area are indeed frozen. I live in such an area.

As long as they keep updating the XBSX version I'm interested. But I doubt now that I'll ever see a World Update for SE Asia. It would have been so nice to have seen some beautiful water masking in Indonesia, along Vietnam's 1000-mile coast, or the magnificent Philippines archipelago. Alas.

I don't see why a SE Asia WU wouldn't happen. It may be a bit limited in content, but it's certainly possible.

The world hub is a marvelous idea and hopefully someday we'll have the means to update ANY location in the sim using this methodology. Truth is that even with AI, the ground level detail is never going to be as good as what someone nearby would be able to create using the proper toolset. Being able to store all this in the cloud so that everyone with the sim can benefit from it is awesome!

yeah, a lot of towns (particularly dense European town centres) are a bit thin on the ground in the Sim in terms of scenery. The AI isn't good at recognising things like terraced houses, which are usually not rendered at all, or large blocks of individual small buildings (which often results in ancient cities being full of large flat-roofed buildings covering an entire block)

Yeah you could even extend the philosophy to publishing glass cockpit systems like the G1000 through github and allow the development of these systems to be driven by rhe open source community. Of course developing an entire sim that way is a bad idea because the lack of structure would mean you would never have the architectural oversight for change like we are getting with FS2024 but for these smaller systems and geographic locations, it is a great idea! 👍

I finally played this game in VR and basically makes 2D unplayable being able to feel the scale of objects and looking around to find landmarks and runways while having a native understanding of distance is unparalleled

I wouldn't be surprised if the Dune DLC 'thopter was released as a bit of a test bed for those multi-rotor physics. It's modeled as a twincopter after all.

This may come in the 2024 version with its new 'gameplay features' (based on the original trailer), but doubt they'll be in-depth if they do come. If on PC, you're better off looking at external applications, like Air Hauler 2, Neofly or FSEconomy, which you may already know about and/or use. If not, check them out :)

Great to see the World Hub updates being introduced, hopefully the Microsoft due diligence process will not hold up these updates like it has with the Marketplace and that the process can be efficent enough to meet the needs of the community. 68 is a good start but once the platform gets established, that number should rise into the 1000's on a monthly cadance.

I’m running MSFS 2020 on Xbox and an update or so ago I noticed that I no longer have the release and update notes. When you click on that menu it just gives you a sort of Welcome message and then tells you to go to a web site to see that info. Am I missing something and why the change?

@@Vandantcyclone Actually, no it wasn’t. The release note would give a short list and overview of what changes and upgrades each said release had done. Plus you could quickly see which release or upgrade number it was so you truly knew if your version was the latest.

Langley Regional Airport in Langley, BC, Canada.....has TWO towers, can one of you HUB users fix it? The freestanding Tower is the one that is now extinct. The Tower over the building is the newest addition. Thanks very much.

I've read alot of beta testers saying su15 is unstable with ctds which is a worry, I guess they will release it anyway, my sim has been awful since su13, su13 made my sim freeze for up to ten seconds with lower fps, before the update my sim ran great😢

yeah SU15 beta is a bit unstable, but the changes in it aren't very big (mostly digital nav panel updates) so Asobo should be able to fix it before go-live. The model-matching / nameplates has been a mess on the beta since it started but that seems to be improving.

I've tried msfs many times, I play it on console, but with the large initial download coupled with an even larger download for all the updates that has to happen with the game playing, I get bored before the thing ever completes. The game needs better optimization on console, and it needs scenarios or a campaign modem some sense of progression outside of what's available currently.

Unfortunately I will have to sell my Turtle Beach Velocity One Flight sim . Received it and the Xbox at Christmas and I'm having the worst time tying to set up the systems . This select "Number" for a specific action is quite confusing for me. Wish it would have worked out (watched lots of videos) but it only adds to the confusion . Have a great time , but I won't be in the air....

I think the reason why they've not released a new roadmap is the upcoming FS2024 - think they haven't fully decided what features will make an update of FS2020 and which will be kept for 2024

I sincerely hope that world hub airports will be an optional item. There are so many good freeware airports available already, and also many commercial ones. I for one do not want to have a modified version forced upon me if I might already be using one that is better which has been released by other people through other sources.

Dont worry about that, addon airport should always be priority over the world hub ones. Worst case scenario you have to delete the addon airport, start the sim, close it and copy the addon airport to the community folder again. You can also edit a specific config file (Content.xml) to set priority but the former fix is easier.

I have been a subscriber to your MSFS 2020 KZbin channel since its release and have always admired your videos. Could you please let me know what recording software do you use to get you great slow panning shots? Is it the recording software that allows you to do this or is it your camera point of view used during the actual flight? Many thanks in advance.

recording software typically only records what's on screen.... any camera movements he does will be in game.

@1000 That's exactly what he's trying to say. Those camera angles and even the replay of the flight is all being done in the game. Then the recording of what's in the game on screen is done externally via software like OBS/NVidia Shadowplay.

I know the regions are stitched together, but and obviously it's not going to be 100% accurate but there's a lot of areas I've come across where highways freeways and roads just cut off ending at bushlands. Also near ULURU AUSTRALIA, there's a random invisible collision barrier about 3,000ft above it. Also I noticed with some of the planes even just a tiny bit of throttle like I'm talking 3-5 % the planes sometimes shoot super fast like a speeding bullet

They are adding ground textures and detailed foiliage (with AI) with msfs2024. They should also add driveable roads and some cars.

WOW, I made the world hub suggestion right when MSFS came out. My logical thought process is that you have hundreds of thousands of enthusiasts, let them fix a lot of what is wrong in the game. I even had the whole let them upload it to Microsoft for approval.

Thank you for the review. I find it amusing that it is referred to as a SIMULATOR, when Asobo insists on putting large trees at or near the threshold, completely ignoring ICAO requirements and thus rendering it a GAME and NOT a real Sim.
