We heard the Volcano from New Zealand (I'm in Christchurch) 2,727 km (1,694 miles) away. There was also a Tsunami surge up north so the eruption was huge.

The water mask was probably generated with data from 2015 or later, making the central part between the islands not water covered (despite the elevation being at sea level due to using much older radar elevation data)

I find these volcanic landscapes quite intimidating - put in a glowering cloudscape and they really become quite scary. Everything's on such a gargantuan scale. Réunion Island, featured in one of your recent MSFS videos, is one such place. Absolutely terrifying landscape to fly over - and watch that verticality - that 8.5000ft high volcanic peak creeps up on you!

While there's no 'international rescue' as such, there are numerous agreements with countries across the Pacific for mutual disaster assistance... both Australia & NZ have sent military aircraft in the last 12 hours to try to establish what the situation is & how to assist. There's also disaster & a specific volcano response team that operates out of the US (part of the volcano research team that works out of Hawaii) which assists with the science part of post-eruption & future monitoring by locals.

@@medea27 Great thanks for this information. I'm aware that there are instances that will act. Still, how does it feel when you are 1 hour stuck in dramatic situation. It feels like a lifetime or even worse. An organisation that could react instantly and give hope to people that are living a nightmare would be awesome for mankind 😉 Crossing my fingers for it to happen one day 🤞 Don't get me wrong now, I'm glad that something is done. On the other side I would not like to be down there waiting for 12 hours to be rescued, if you understand what I mean. Take care ✌️

The blast eruption of the Hanga Tonga Volcano was horrendously loud like a bomb blast. Am in Auckland NZ heard the big bang and had Tsunami waves as well. As NZ is in the ring of fire which is the plate that moves when earthquake shakes NZ. Am not surprise with Hanga Tanga volcano had a huge eruptions. It is mother natures work. We are also end time such will happen we just be prepared.
@shannonnero
@shannonnero 2 жыл бұрын
The ring of fire is not a plate in itself. It’s like a pathway that borders around the Pacific Ocean and includes some smaller plates as well. NZ is literally a ticking time bomb, they say the alpine fault will go in our lifetime. Who knows, maybe Ruapehu, or even the Taupo Caldera. Could all be in quick succession. Nature will take its course and there will be nothing we can do about it.

I am from Odisha. We here experience super cyclones every year during November and in December, some times in May. The problem with such Super cyclones is the Wind Speed goes beyond 285 kms to 325 kms per hour, it removes overhead sheds, tins and some times tower and cranes. Windows and Doors are flown away with that destructive wind speed.

If I understand correctly, the west prominence is Hunga Tonga and the east prominence was Hunga Ha'apai. When the volcano filled in the sea between, they became Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai. Since January 15th, though, Hunga Tonga has been much reduced, there is no volcano above the sea surface, and Hunga Ha'apai is no longer there.

The news stated the so-called eruption had the power of multiple atomic bombs. Hmmm, that makes me curious about the four missiles that North Korea launched this month. Two of those missiles were Ballistic missiles, all four missiles were directed into the ocean . North Korea would not comment on how far they flew. I believe Tonga is about 1,500 miles from North Korea.
