Last time I used one the display quality was awful, It weighs a ton and the pivot mechanism on it was awkward. I could get over the clunky nature of it but the fuzzy picture and color quality were unacceptable for the price. For now I'll just stick with an intuos.

This is bullshit, n-trig sucks big time ask any professionnal artist about the jittering at low speed lines that can never be drawn "right" with n-trig technology. and MS never fixed it with any patch even if they tried.

8GB RAM for media applications on a 4.5k display? Have fun while I enjoy my 32 GB, i7 Processor and a gtx 1070 plus a wacom cintiq for the same price.
@sebastiangovender3851
@sebastiangovender3851 8 жыл бұрын
Cintiq 27QHD alone is near the same price and has about half the PPI, so you're not getting the same display quality. Plus there's no room in the budget for other PC parts which means you probably don't have this model either XD
@andrejborba248
@andrejborba248 8 жыл бұрын
Maybe I have missed something, but the Top Model is an i7 processor, 32 GB Ram and a GTX 980M with 4GB. I have used the wacom cintiq - you cant compare this product with a wacom cintiq. The flow of the pen usage is so awesome. The surface pen and apple pen really destroy wacoms products in any aspect. I have never seen a review highlighting wacom products, it doesnt matter which product, they re getting overrun by the top companies. Try out this product as a designer and you will clearly fall in love, believe me. It s a complete different world.

Mac Pro ($NZD) can't even compare the spec's but on one spec (only 1TB flash drive), no monitor, it's out over $10K, so this product way, way less. Apple are dead in the water on iMac.

darkpill it is perfectly fine for its intended market. Again it's aimed for creative professionals not gamers. Even if your doing 3D work(which I do) most of those programs are CPU based not GPU. The only times the GPU needs to be more powerful is with certain renders but even still there is plenty of CPU based renders in the market also.

Though I've always been a Windows guy, I ain't been this horny for a Microsoft product in a long-ass time. It's as if Apple, Wacom, and 3Dconnexion had a Windows-powered baby. Except it's with none of Apple's proprietary nonsense, double the horsepower of Wacom's MobileStudio Pro, and with a cooler dial controller than the SpaceMouse Pro. Never thought I'd use "sexy" and "Microsoft" in the same sentence, but this thing is seriously sexy as hell, Big Mike. Congrats.

This is no match to the 3Dconnexion Wireless controllers, though. I as an engineer can't imagine how Surface Studio would make CAD drawing any easier (I am a long time Surface Pro user btw too). 34" display is really nice for this (so this would be a slight downgrade although you will gain some PPI) - everything else is kind of not relevant. This product makes me want to be a graphics designer, though - somehow sad that I don't need it.

Lots of people complaining about the price. This is clearly a product for professionals, not casual home users and gamers. It's a tool, and one that would actually have saved my former architectural company much more than they cost in extra productivity and less time wasted getting site layouts traced and scanned, then cadded up. I reckon you could even work at 1:500 scale with house templates right on the screen then simply drop the cad block into place once happy. Now it just needs to come out in A0 size LOL

I love this product - some genuine innovation. The one step for me that I'd love to see - translate sketches into Visio, and that would be a killer app. In the meantime, being able to purchase the Surface Dial for a Surface 3/4...THAT's a great idea, and of immediate benefit to anyone with a Surface.

Can i able to work with 3ds max, Autodesk maya or cinema 4d or other relevant 3d software ? If i can't then it's totally worthless for 3d artist and designer. Better i will stay happy with Wacom Cintiq and Customs pc.

It can. The thing is a beast. Do some research on the processor and such, and even though there is an "M" in there, it doesn't mean weak and mobile.

Wow, MS really screwed up on this one, if anyone purchases this setup they will literally be foolish knowing the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M 2GB GPU GDDR5 memory or 980M 4GB GPU GDDR5 memory is now outdated and replaced by the GFX 1060, 1070 or 1080 GPU. They market this for artists yet utilize legacy GPUs? The new GPUs are cheaper, much more powerful and much more efficient than the 965M or 980M and 4GB? Give it 3 months and the Studio 2 will be out with the updated components, trust me.

Won't really be a priority. It'll probably hugely aim for the cad and designer market which is more cpu intense.

Lol man GTX1080 is too big.. It wouldnt fit in that small case. And GTX are for gaming. For any good graphics program is CPU main thing. 980m is more than enough :) This PC in not for gaming

Davo Davosworks well not really all graphics programs. lots of renders are gpu intensive. a professional business that actually does extreme type rendering where time is a major factor wouldn't necessarily even do this on the work computer

Then be an artist on this machine and render on another. Or are the applications not capable of saving files before rendering scenes?
@smlgd
@smlgd 8 жыл бұрын
I don't see why it needs a GTX 1080. That's aimed for gamers. Also, it wouldn't fit there. Renders are faster in a GPU than in a CPU, it's a fact, but there are many features which require CPU rendering, if you do 3d work you'll know it. So GPU it's not as important

I actually really like the way Panos reveals his products. He has a passion for his products that you just won't get with an actor. He's also super smart, and you can hear that in the way he talks. He knows what he's talking about. Maybe that stands out to me more than others because I am a techy, myself, but I have always enjoyed his reveals.

jittery n-trig MS pen can go to hell. MS got my money 2 times because surface pro 2 had a good wacom pen but the screen was too small and screen corners were inconsistent when you reached them with the pen, i trusted surface pro 4 n trig bullshit pr and it was pure garbage, lost 1500 $ on this piece of crap for artists, now i'm not getting anything with a n-trig for anything professionnal. It's just jittery as fuck, i mean, every lines drawn at a slow speed to be precise will jitter like crazy and i'm a very very precise drawing perfectionnist. My old cintiq 21 ux is much more consistent with lines at low and high speed than n-trig and pixelsense ever been.
@ihl0700677525
@ihl0700677525 8 жыл бұрын
Well, I don't feel N-Trig to be *that* jittery. I was using Wacom for quite long time, and I do agree that Wacom product is significantly better in terms of how it 'feels' when the pen move on the surface of the tablet. Perhaps due to the lighter pen, the grip of its tip, the pressure levels, or whatever. Still, Microsoft Surface have been an excellent laptop and good drawing board for me. So I disagree that MS SP4 is a 'pure garbage' because it's actually a good product. But I'm not make a living through drawings or animations. So yeah, too bad for you that MS Surfaces are not cater for your high standard, but saying that MS SP4 as a 'pure garbage' is just not right.
@imaginalex5850
@imaginalex5850 8 жыл бұрын
Immanuel Herman It is not fit for real drawing, you clearly never draw slow, very thin and light lines and do shade with this to know how shitty the jittering is on high resolution and zooming on very thin details.
@imaginalex5850
@imaginalex5850 8 жыл бұрын
Except that i got the 21 ux for 400$ used and it still is much better for drawing altogether.
@imaginalex5850
@imaginalex5850 8 жыл бұрын
i ment that this "old" wacom cintiq was still better than any sp4 and n-trig pen, i own a sp4 and only fast lines comes clean and un-jittery, but when you have to focus, make precision work on your artwork it completely falls flat on it's face and is really useless at it, i'm frustrated all the time and have to import everything to my main pc and do the real work on the cintiq ux 21.
@imaginalex5850
@imaginalex5850 8 жыл бұрын
If i had to redo one thing i would have bought a Wacom cintiq Companion 2 for the same price and would have a true mobile tool without any issue for designing / drawing. Now i will be keeping my money for the mobile studio pro from wacom, MS ain't going to fool me a third time.

As a designer and artist myself, I'm impressed at the different liberties they've taken with this system. However, it appears completely immune to upgrades. That is a huge negative considering the price of the fully-upgraded machine, which I would need to cough up the money for. Especially because the GTX 980 is almost outdated at this point already. The machine may not be able to run programs released in 5-6 years. Last year, I purchased a windows machine with 32GB RAM, a GTX 980, 4GB DDR, two 2TB hard drives, and two monitors for less than $2,000. It's not an ugly machine by any means. And the best part is, nothing is glued to the motherboard or anything, so it can be upgraded.

It seems like microsoft is being way more inovative than apple. If I were a designer I would be very interested in this product for sure. The pen and the dial with a 28" touch sreen can do a lot! While apple introduces a small touch bar on macbook pros. Come on apple We expected more than just this! By the way I am a macbook pro 15" mid 2014 user
