iPhone XS Max Face ID Repair after Cutting Ear Speaker Flex

Thank you so much Mike I took your micro soldering course on udemy during December. My journey is beginning like yours. I had this issue with iphone 11 pro max recently ear speaker torn flex. The back side at 250c with low to almost no airflow is super easy and flux does mess with certain components. Oem ear speakers that are soldered are better than taped on. Mobile Sentrix has lots of good product some obscure items can be hit or miss though for obvious reasons. I'm slowly getting the shop to invest in me and the business. Yes that means we won't have as much to bring to you anymore unless I'm stuck or back logged. I only spend total of 180 minutes Max on any one device. Thanks for your skill share and talent sir. I hope to meet you in the near future and possibility get an in person hands on with my own person project (ipad mini 2 digitizer fox replacement). Thank you my friend! My ambient light sensor just ripped (the cable that connects it to the other parts ) can I somehow fix that or just connect it to the iPhone again without looping?

He did it right.. most people that do the donor transplant only move the flood illuminator unit and skip ALS which kills True Tone and I like to stay as true to OEM as possible.. nice job

Transferred my chip following this video's instructions. Everything went perfectly, except the face ID still didn't work when i booted up the phone. I guess it was worth a shot.. I can't say for sure every pin on that sensor is perfectly soldered, no way to tell other then to put it in place and hope😢

I added just a tiny bit of flex before soldering, went straight through sensor, also somehow I melted the sensor using 270C. I really don't understand how you did not melt it going at it from that angle.

Wen you point the heat to the sensor it will melt, use the heat on the back of the sensor like he does n it works 💯 %

Bad flex to flood illuminator or make sure you solder both the old and the flood illuminator evenly

I’m confused, all other videos from Chinese repairers state it’s the dot projector that is paired,. They then use various tools that transfer data from dot projector flex to a new flex and Face ID works, however, you state it’s the proximity sensor that is paired. Plus, I personally just swapped out the whole front cable without any problems! Hope you can clarify. Thanks

Depending on what is damaged, you repair accordingly. If ear flex cable is damaged then swap the flood illuminator. If dot projector is damaged then its the dot projector need to be swapped

From what I’ve been learning, the move higher/lower is a problem with the dot projector and it is not fixable

That's not true. I just fixed 1 flex ripped out by a client of mine when he tried to change the screen by himself. First i had this problem , move the iphone higher an lower caused by a short (my bad) between pins 15,16,17,18 and 5,7,9,11,13. I've fixed the short and problem solved, now it's working perfectly

piulistu yeah well, if you see physical damage of course it will be fixable. I’m talking about the cases where there’s nothing obvious

@@smartfixAltea correct n I witnessed it too. Positioning the heat is vital. Understand the purpose of the heat n make sure deliver the heat carefully so it will will melt n come off. Experience is the key or it will burn the ic or sensor n not able to remove the component
