The most expensive 27" Gaming monitors (1440p, 16:9), including our VAT, seem to be ~ $1,420 (USD). The cheapest ones (High Refresh Rate 6/2023 --> 240 Hz) ~ $380 (USD). Naturally, sale prices can be lower etc. The middle point, i.e. (max + min) / 2, is somewhere around $900 (USD). Or about *$726* (USD) without our VAT. To be fair, it's not just for the extra 60hz. It has a G-Sync module, upgradable firmware, Nvidia's ULMB 2.0 (the best strobing and motion clarity on the market), a better panel (brighter, higher hz, better response times, half the input latency) and a better HDR experience. It's just a better all-around monitor. vrr strobing simply doesn't work the way people will want. To eliminate the random flickering caused by variable frametimes they use pwm techniques that gimps the motion and an effective pulsewidth that's way to large(mprt gimped), infact it can make motion worse then sample and hold the lower framerate you go. proper single strobed vrr with low pulsewidths is too flickery to put in a consumer product they will never do it. tiny variations in flickerate are extremely noticeable to human eyes even 10microseconds of jitter is visible as a candlelight flicker, why fixed hz is pretty much requried for good quality strobing. the way vrr-elmbsync works is by having a fixed black period at all refreshrates, if the black period is allways the same you won't see flicker then all they have to do is use pwm to equalize the average brightness. unfortunatly this results in mprt and crosstalk growing dramaticly as your framerate drops quickly becoming useless for increasing the quality of motion. should be called elmb-placebo

There are plenty of things you haven't talked about. 1. The overdrive mode starts producing redish outlines on level 2, and it is really annoying at level 4. Maybe the response times and overshoots are best at that level, but the red color popping is annoying. For me, this red outline effect makes me loose focus. Turning it off, unless I'm around 300 hz. Around or below 200 hz, the red outlines get so bad that it hurts. 2. The monitor IS NOT COLOR CALIBRATED. Even tho you get a paper of it beign color calibrated in the factory, it isn't. The monitor has an insane green tint on it and the reds pop as hell. Tried, but haven't managed to get rid of both. The panel is either greenish or greenish. This effect comes from the fact that the blue channel is weak and green is too strong. 3. ELMB is useless, really hurts my eyes. The mentioned overdive red outlnes get even more insane 4. The panel has a semi-matte coating. It's not glossy and it's not matte either. I can see myself in the monitor quite clearly when seeing something black on screen. 5. The osd is neat and tidy, the software is also okay. 6. The default 70 contrast looks great but it's very bright. It hurts my eyes, so I need to use the contrast around 50-60. ! In general this panel is bad. Slow response times, incorrect colors, bad coating. Never buy this panel. I bough this because I trusted the rog strix line based on higher end panels and devices. I had an MSI monitor before with PERFECT colors and whitepoint. It died after 4 years, that's why I switched to this device. In hungary, we don't have a nice range of prices and devices. Our stock is quite limited compared to the US. Although I could have bought a better pannel, after all the wide gammut mode pops the colors correctly (a bit too good, had to reduce saturation to 40). As I have seen in videos, almost all strix panels have red tint on them. Guess they don't care about colors because it's a "GaMinG MoNiToR"... Guess DELL or LG will be my next purchase.

I tested the Asus ROG Swift PG27AQN and the Asus ROG Strix XG27AQMR in a direct comparison. In short, I have the feeling that both models have the same panel, only the XG27AQMR has been cut by 60 Hz. The colors as well as the image speed in terms of image clarity during fast movements (tested in CS 2 and Red Dead 2) are identical for both. Personally, I would say that the XG27AQMR is slightly ahead in terms of image movement. My friend also tested the monitors blindly and she couldn't tell any difference between the two models. Therefore the PG27AQN is not recommended.

The lower input latency indicates it's a different panel. This is probably an overclocked 240 Hz panel, which is why input lag is slightly faster than 240 Hz monitors, while the PG27 is a completely different beast. I still agree that it's probably not worth the extra cost. At the moment the XG27 is literally half the price in my country.

Hey Tim, I know this is more of a Steve thing but it’s related to resolutions as well. So what this seems to be telling me is that for optimal motion clarity *with* a resolution of 1440p, this is what you should use with ELMB @ 144hz. That seemed far and away clearer than anything else. I'd like this in an aspect ratio of 3440x1440 however. While the Hz is a reasonable indicator of clarity, I don't really care too much. I don't think it's adding much to your current HUB essential checklist and should be moved to yellow or just don't mention in favour of a more severe issue. The reason I've mentioned this is because there are currently some monitors with HDR 1000 but still with an Edge-lit array and I think it's a much more serious case of misinformation that should be capitalised. Does it have a built in console mode ? Or if not is it compatible with ps5?
@fretboardrunner27 күн бұрын
I currently have the MG278Q (from like 9 years ago) which was a super fast 144 Hz TN panel back then. I use the monitor for work and competitive CS2, which is a hard balance. Obviously for CS2 an OLED would be best, but I want to use the monitor for a long time and have to use the same space for work and gaming. So I wanted to go for the PG27AQN, since it's just about the fastest IPS there is. But at the moment it's twice as expensive as the XG27AQMR... And I wonder if I'm being nitpicky here since both are probably that much faster when it comes to input lag anyway...

I have ASUS ROG Strix XG27AQ (not M). Been using it for ~4month, no issues, good color and speed. IPS glow is ok. This one (in the video) will be more expensive and no way it's mid-range)

Had it for a week, very satisfied with its performance so far. Some QC problems tho it seems. With elmb on the monitor makes a high pitched buzzing sound. Also weird green pixel effect with VividPixel option (asus sharpness setting).

Hello, I need help. My monitor arrived today and I noticed a problem with a pure black screen in the form of vertical lines all over the screen. As if there was dirt on the glass after the drops. This problem is visible even when I sit directly in front of the screen. I don't know if it is a specific coating or a faulty screen. Do you also have the same problem?

I just bought this monitor for my ps5. The two games I play the most are apex legends and Elden Ring. Should I return it and get something different? I spent $530 on it. I worried it as too much headroom with the 300hrz. Any advice? I'll keep it if it's going to work fine.

If you're going to get a pc in the future keep it, if not then get a cheaper monitor if possible but this monitor can run all the ps5 stuff like 120hz mode,hdr,etc just not 4k also theres the LG 27GR83Q-B , this monitor is pretty good for consoles and pc and is way cheaper than the asus and has a bit better colors but its 240hz if u do get a pc in the future (price is usually $350 US but rn its $500 so if ur able to wait a bit for it to go back down)

Please make the AW2723DF review. Looks like these two monitors have similar performance. Would be cool to see the comparison, considering Dell is 350$ cheaper in my region, while Asus costs 1000$ 🤯.

Any chance of a review of the new Lenovo 27" 250hz QHD IPS monitor? It has a very good competitive price here in the UK, barely 10% more than entry level QHD 144/165hz.

I am actually trying to save up to get this monitor, but calling it a mid range is an understatement to how long it would take me to get one. There are some cheap monitors out there at 1080p with 165hz for about a hundred bucks with an IPS panel, so I hope that this monitor would get even cheaper to maybe 400 in the future.
