Living in North Central South Dakota means that we, too, have vast amounts of wind. In fact this year we have had so many days in which we have a wind advisory that it has been the windiest in record. When I first planted delphiniums several years ago, I did not stake them at all; of course they were all laid on the ground. I did research and bought lots of individual plant stakes like what you used on your delphiniums. Unfortunately, all their stems broke at the circle part of the plant support. Then I tried half moon shaped supports to better support the base of the plants. This, too, did not work. Finally, I bought some tall peas trellises from Gardener's Supply. There were eight panels which I separated into two sets which I placed in the ground vertically around each delphinium. This meant the entire plant was supported for about the first 3 1/2 to 4 foot of the plant. Now, the wind can blow all it wants, the blossoms bend in the wind but they do not snap off. The plant supports are not as attractive, especially in the spring. But once the delphiniums reach full size, one cannot see the green metal structure of the pea supports as much. It is definitely worth it to me to keep those lovely blossoms.

"This spot was really easy. LOW maintenance." Haha!! That was actually a LOT of cleanup work (and even with lower humidity, temps in the 100s is nothing to sneeze at) and it all looks very beautiful. And did everyone catch those big urns just exploding with all those gorgeous pink and magenta flowers?... Those are outstanding! Staking the delphiniums made a huge difference too. I just love everything in that whole west garden. Thank you for sharing your lives and gardens with us. It truly is a bright spot in my every day. 💗🌼

This will be my first time growing hydrangeas but I do see tons of them in my neighborhood obviously they do grow just fine here. I'll bite the bullet and dig a hole and hope for the best.

I just love the color and the shape of that one! Thank you, in advance!!!🤗 You mentioned your Daisy May (sp?) plants; I used to have a beautiful, long-haired tabby, named Daisy Mae. She was the FAVORITE of all of the cats I have had, since childhood. Soooooo sweet and loving. I miss her, even 21 years later. Those Sure Fire Rose Begonias have filled in stupendously, since planting!🤩🤩🤩 YAAAAAAY, another peek of the new fountain !!👏👏👏👏 You should be glad that I am not your neighbor; I would be sneaking onto your property, daily, to hang out in your beautiful, delightful places.😂🤣😂 At least until you caught me and threw me out.😉😃😂🤣 Dang it, stupid earwigs; they sure are creepy, destructive little Demons. Yes, the breeze does make gardening, in the heat, SO MUCH more tolerable. 🙋🏼‍♀️As an Arizona desert dweller, I am all about a breeze, while gardening.🥵 OH MY ✨️⭐️🌟⭐️✨️, everything looks sooooo much better!! Nice separation of plants, trees and shrubs. Although, it was sad 😔😟 to see the beautiful flowers shorn back... Those containers look so lovely with the supertunias spilling over the edges! WOWWWWW Jinx, at 15:02, we both said "so pretty" at the same time. You owe me an iced coffee.😉😂🤣 At 16:53, you mentioned seeing Paul; has he been hiding from the camera? We rarely see him in the background, lately.😔 Please tell him Hello. At 17:08, is there a bird/hummingbird inside the greenhouse? I saw some type of critter 🐦/🦋 quickly fly through camera path. You did a TON of work today, Laura!!! What a Super Trooper💪💪🦸‍♀️🦹‍♀️ you are, young Lady!!!! I sure hope you took a nice, long break after that workout. Good morning, Laura, from Windermere Florida zone 9b USA 🇺🇸 Happy Gardening Everyone 👩‍🌾 👍 💓 We are just trying to survive the heat and humidity. Mid 90°s and humidity in the 80% a.m. to 60% in the heat of the day. 49 days left in summer ☀️

I grew Verbascum from seed in 2020. I had never seen them before and was curious. They really are stunning. They put on quite the show, they're one of my favorite things I've ever planted. Mine have gotten to about three and a half feet tall with the spike. Yours are so beautiful too! I can't wait to find the next cool thing for my garden.

Thank you for the reminder to apply fertilizer to the perennials after you trim them back mid season. I have only used the water soluble on the annuals to keep them going but didn't think about the others needing a boost after being trimmed.

Whoa girl! You did some work! Who else was shocked 😳 to see Laura bust out the stakes and stake those delphiniums???? I was 🙋🏼‍♀️ lol!! All the years I’ve heard her talk about it, request the audience to not let her forget about it, & yet she always manages to forget them.. IM SO PROUD OF YOU!! lol! Awesome video! My zinnias are COVERED in earwigs! No real damage to the plants though (odd) but I can’t cut blooms and bring them in, if I cut a bloom, 4 or 5 earwigs fall out. Just gross 🤮 so I enjoy them in the garden and not in the house. Thank you for the video! 😊♥️

Good morning, Laura ☕️ I love the look of the limbed up Elderberry 🙌🏻 I think you should do that at the end of the walkway. Using the hedge trimmer was brilliant 🤓. I can’t wait to see the boxwoods all sheared up especially the ones near the Gallaway urn with the Lavender 💜. Have a Blessed Day 😊🐈
