As an English woman I am shamed by the harassment of this good (I don't have to know him: he has left the safety of London to go to the war torn Gaza Strip to provide essential medical assistance) man's family by the foot soldiers of the fascist Home Secretary Braverman. I am nearly 70 and was raised here in Northumberland in a racist culture that I have taken my entire life to grow out of. The tangible sick feeling this video has given me may be some small proof that I am finally able to see, even with the poverty I was personally born into, my White privilege for the evil it has been and continues to be. I fervently hoped that as my generation died off younger generations would have embraced humanitarianism so that these global conflicts would be lessening, that ethnic diversity in the UK and elsewhere would lead to greater understanding, inclusivity. Sadly, instead, I am witnessing once democratic societies being dragged back into the filth and mire of distrust and exploitation now manufactured by the greed of corporations. I despair for the seemingly irretrievable state of affairs youth today is faced with. Please, please let me be wrong.

A few days back, I listened to this doctor's interview on BBC. He was recounting the medical situations in Gaza. Unlike many others from the Palestinian side, he maintained a composed demeanor, refraining from allowing his emotions to dictate his words or succumbing to the urge to shed tears over the dire situation on the ground. Instead, he handled every question with a genuine and professional approach. I must acknowledge that I have praised his decision and courage to forego his ordinary life in London and leave his family behind, all to venture into the devastated war zone of Gaza, aiming to offer crucial medical aid and perform numerous operations for the injured, without expecting any price for that. But, seeing all his good deeds met by the British police going after this doctor's family in London, subjecting them to interrogations and harassment, is truly shocking and surpasses anything one could have imagined!
