Its not suppose to be leveled, has to be 1/4 bubble hanging {see manual and Midea install video} so water can drip out ,otherwise water will pool inside AC {condensation} and rust inside of AC and AC will stop working ,but great video showing to install foam on bracket before sitting AC on bracket, helps so much , even Midea videos don't show that .nice job ! Thanks.

Just put one in our living room. Awesome unit, so quiet which is great when my wife watches TV. ME! I don't watch TV. Highly recommend this unit. Also being on lower floor I find this is also a security issue from a regular window air conditioner, which your window is opened more wider whereas with the design of this unit is only inches. Have security bar inside to prevent someone trying to force open window.

Hi. I really like this model's design and hope it will work for me. Very helpful video. One question, my window width is like 20" - Do you think the bracket could be modified to still work? The installation guidelines say a minimum of 22 inches but I think the unit itself is only 19.17 inches so I'm hoping the bracket can be adapted...ie..drill some extra holes to shorten or? Thanks for any help. These things are hard to return so trying to get info in advance!

Thank you for your comment and kind words about the video. It's great to hear that you find it helpful. As for your question, it's difficult to say for sure whether the bracket could be modified to work for your 20-inch window without seeing it in person. However, drilling extra holes to shorten the bracket is a possible solution, as long as it is done carefully and safely. Keep in mind that modifying the bracket may affect the stability and safety of the installation, so it's important to exercise caution and consult with a professional if necessary. Good luck with your installation! cnl

Looks like an elaborate installation and difficult to remove. Will you just leave the unit in the window over the winter? It looks like the window won't fully close with the bracket screwed in place.
@DigitalDavid
@DigitalDavid Жыл бұрын
Installing a window air conditioner can be a bit tricky, but it's important to make sure it's done properly for both efficiency and safety reasons. While leaving the unit in the window over the winter is an option, it's not recommended as it can lead to energy waste and potential damage to the unit. To remove the unit, you can simply follow the steps in reverse order. As for the bracket, some models may require the window to remain slightly open, but this should not be a significant issue as long as the unit is installed properly and securely. cnl

Mine will not go into AP mode. Pressing the connect button only beeps, but the AC does not display "AP" and the app will not connect. There is no factory reset option and Midea customer service is no help whatsoever; they keep asking about what type of phone and Wi-Fi channel when the problem is with the device itself. Now I have a "dumb" AC. Super quiet though, plus I love the fact I can tuck the curtain behind the AC to block out all the light. You can't do that with regular ACs, unless you install light blocking panels.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your Midea U Inverter Window Air Conditioner not going into AP mode. It can be frustrating when customer service isn't able to provide helpful solutions. Have you tried contacting the retailer where you purchased the AC to see if they can offer any assistance or if they can facilitate a replacement or refund? the answer is no, you cant put a window unit side-to-side even though you have a sliding window (left to right). I just damaged mine last month, remember air conditioner is also a dehumidifier, if you place it in a "C Shape" instead of "U-Shape" will definitely damage the system that relies on gravity to drain the water. so no matter the window you have is a horizontal(slide left and right) or veridical (open up and down) the top of the unit always need to face up.

@@williamwchuang You are correct, I just bought one and installed it couple days ago and yes it does tell you to tilt it. So everyone don't follow video directions to level the bracket, it needs to tilt to the outside as every other window AC. Other then leveling the bracket this video is helpful for install. Installing this is nowhere near hard as some comments I've seen in a few videos on this unit. I would say it's easier and there no drilling to the house outside, you can install from inside the house which is very helpful when installing on second floor, no ladder required. Even if you don't care if you can use the window, I would get this unit for second floor installs just for the install. I almost didn't buy this unit from reading comments on the install difficulty, I'm glad I decided to go for it, the install is a breeze. When I seen this comment I didn't have the unit yet and seen the video showed leveling the bracket. I seen the little dip in the bracket and thought the tilt was built in to the bracket.. It is not. What about if you have a sidewindow?
@DigitalDavid
@DigitalDavid Жыл бұрын
Good question! The Midea U Inverter Window Air Conditioner is designed to be installed in a standard double-hung window, so if you have a side window, you may need to take some additional steps to properly install the unit. One option is to use a window installation kit specifically designed for side-sliding windows. These kits typically include a panel that can be cut to fit the size of your window and seal the gap around the air conditioner unit. You may also need to use brackets or other hardware to secure the unit in place. Another option is to have a professional install the unit for you, especially if you're unsure about the proper installation process for your specific type of window. They will be able to assess your space and recommend the best installation method for your needs. It's important to ensure that the air conditioner is properly installed and sealed to prevent air leaks and maximize its efficiency. cnl

 @Digital David Good video. Thanks! The gap when the window does not close flush with the foam at the top is an issue if there is a lot of rain and high winds. Any recommendations on what can be done to securely close that gap?
@DigitalDavid
@DigitalDavid Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching the video and leaving a comment! You raise a good point about the potential issue of rain and wind entering through the gap created by the foam at the top of the Midea U Inverter Window Air Conditioner installation. One option to securely close the gap is to use weatherstripping foam tape. This type of tape is designed to create a seal between two surfaces and prevent air and moisture from passing through. You could apply the foam tape to the top of the window frame before installing the air conditioner, which would help create a tight seal when the window is closed. Another option is to use a window seal kit specifically designed for air conditioners. These kits typically include a piece of foam insulation that fits into the gap between the top of the air conditioner and the window frame, as well as a piece of adhesive-backed foam tape that can be applied to the sides and bottom of the window frame to create a tight seal. Whichever solution you choose, it's important to ensure that the installation is secure and that there are no gaps that could allow moisture or air to enter your home. This will help maximize the efficiency of the air conditioner and prevent any potential damage from rain or wind. cnl

Does it have an option for fresh air or the air is recirculated?
@DigitalDavid
@DigitalDavid 11 ай бұрын
Great question! The Midea U Inverter Window Air Conditioner typically operates by recirculating the air within the room. While it might not have a dedicated "fresh air" mode like some HVAC systems, you can manually open a window alongside the air conditioner to introduce outdoor air into the room. Keep in mind that recirculating air can help maintain a more consistent temperature and humidity level indoors, which can be particularly beneficial in controlling the cooling efficiency. However, if you're looking for a constant influx of fresh outdoor air, you might need to consider a ventilation system or alternative cooling solutions that prioritize outdoor air intake. cnl

How quiet is the outside noise once the unit is in the window?
@DigitalDavid
@DigitalDavid Жыл бұрын
The Midea U Inverter Window Air Conditioner is designed to be relatively quiet, with a noise level of 42 decibels. However, the actual noise level may vary depending on a number of factors, including the location of the unit, the ambient noise level in the surrounding environment, and the specific settings used. In general, the unit is designed to minimize outside noise as much as possible, so you should expect it to be relatively quiet once it is installed properly in your window. cnl

@StarmanDX
@StarmanDX 3 жыл бұрын
way quieter, inverter style (meaning it can vary how hard the compressor works- 99% of window ACs just turn off or 100% on, nothing in between), slightly better thermal and sound isolation since more of the window is closed than with a standard window ac, and you can see slightly more around the AC than with a normal window AC. if you wanna go through the trouble you can technically open the window if its nice outside, but you will have to deal with removing and reinstalling the window sash foam. disadvantages are that it takes way longer to install and will likely be annoying to remove for the winter, but beyond that I legitimately can't think of any.

The prices are constantly jumping, especially now around AC season. I paid $650 for the 12,000btu. I’ve seen it anywhere from 550-800.
