@Alexandra Garrett Hey, I have had my 8k unit for a couple months now, and i can say its worth it. So quiet and no issues yet. Compared to my old unit I wanted to push out the window cause how much noise it caused, plus that compressor rattling/ringing/clicking I have never heard since its outside my window. I would say having a double pane window is also a huge help for blocking out the noise. I also put the black foam striping on bottom, he didnt in this video.

Don’t know how I missed how the bottom of the window comes down on each side to seal from the outside. I have always liked small window units either for cooling a smaller space or as a back or any reason needed. I sure like what I see here. Thanks a lot for the information. I reviewed this open minded...my house was built in the 50's and didn't have central AC so everyone is forced to get window units of some variety, go ductless, or go with a new central AC install along with duct work. Window units are the cheapest to buy but their efficiency wasn't great, along with the annual install/deinstall/storage issue, and your windows aren't so secure and/or sealed. I think this one really solves a lot of the major pains involved...easy to install, CEER 15 efficiency rating...just checked HD's page and theirs are 11-12 CEER. I love that it is quiet and you can use your phone as a remote. Wish they had this around quite a few years ago! Pricing isn't all that bad either...easily get your money back in a summer with this efficiency rating!
@kshaf354 жыл бұрын
I am so happy that it's quiet. It seems like the saddle-type setup lends to that, keeping the condenser separated from the inside of the room even just a little more. From what I have read, the condenser doesn't "bang" on like it does in traditional window units. Mine is due to arrive in a week and I am looking forward to seeing for myself.
@TheHandyman14 жыл бұрын
@@kshaf35 This review doesn't do the unit justice. I have had it running in my house for the last month and it is sooo quiet compared to another $400 smart window unit I have in a different part of the house. How many BTUs did you get?

I saw that, with the key feature of the unit being that you can easily open the window, that would make it impractical. With all of the design that went into that units shape, the blocks in the side the bracket. It just seems like they would have made a better sealing solution as to maintain the air seal and still allow full operation of the window.

I had a u-shaped design from montgomery wards or sears that was made in the 60's. Blew like an arctic storm. It must have been 24" across and 18" tall, but had a pass through that was only about 6"x3"
@ryanlangan10603 жыл бұрын
Makes a lot of sense as far as design. You only need the high and low pressure lines, and the wires between the two sides. However, you also need more metal for support. Since all of these get shipped from far away lands, that's more costly too. Easier and less expensive to make a full box.

We have a split in our attic, which is a refinished room. The unit is fairly sleek as far as they go (it's a Mitsubishi), but it would be too large for some rooms and we also have quite a few rooms that would not be cooled if the doors were closed. It's more convenient to have central air, but our house is 112 years old and it's not easy to snake the vents into all the rooms of the house. We'll keep this Midea unit in one bedroom in the front of our house that is south-facing and gets hit with a lot of full day sun. We live in a fairly temperate zone in a mid-Atlantic state in the US.
