Brilliant stuff, coincidentally I have been using these exact tools in similar way. A tip i found: sometimes Runway can do the action requested, but it will do the opposite. So you can reverse it in editing.

Phenomenal tutorial! I've used Midjourney which is how I got into AI nearly two years ago, but started doing most of my image generation with DALLE 3, via ChatGPT. It was easier and faster to create. the types of images I needed. But for the highest quality images, I'll use Midjourney, so I can get the best output from Runway. I'm assuming there is no way to create a character in Runway and have it use a consistent character throughout the video? Otherwise you wouldn't be starting in Midjourney for your images.

In Runway there is a feature called Custom Character. You can train a custom model for character consistency. Check it out 👍🏼

I also liked your short film very much and noticed the visual coherency. I will certainly follow your advice in my next film and use the style reference to reach more coherent style throughout my film. Character consistency video would be great, if you have the time and interest to do one. Also - there are many AI storyboard services out there that keep the style and characters consistent and speed up the storytelling process as you can generate images for the whole story quickly! Take a look at those as I think they could be a major help for AI filmmakers.

This is a great tutorial. Just getting into the AI medium. I am attempting to try out your workflow. How much attention to detail consistency needs to be generated by Chat GPT in your first step? Example being: No matter the storyboard prompts for my female character, I am getting back: differences in hairstyle; sometimes wearing a backpack, sometimes not; tank top changing to a t-shirt, etc. How close do these details need to be in order to be good enough for the next step?

Hi Mike, ChatGPT is a ‘Low Fidelity’ step meaning details of the hairstyle, outfit isn’t that important since in the Midjourney step we will use a clear distinct character reference and we will have full control over outfit and hair style.

I really want to love Gen-3 Turbo. It's SO fast, and I have definitely noticed times when Turbo does a better job of keeping movements under control, while normal Gen-3 can seem like it's trying too hard to impress and makes a complete mess. But the reason I use Gen-3 over other AI video generators is for its cinematic look, and Turbo quality suffers too much. The lighting is very basic and everything has a rough, almost pixelated look to it. So I mostly use Turbo to create temporarily filler clips, just to try out ideas and have something with movement until I'm ready to generate the final clips using normal Gen-3.

not sure about such objects, but I personally used even patterns as Characters in MJ, and it was quite consistent. from what I understand...character is not a must a human character

3:25 what software did you use for the gallery view of the storyboard? I'm not sure what you mean by "atomic level" either. I've been using MJ since v1. Placing :: to separate thing is one thing. brackets dont seem to make any difference, if you describe a shot correctly.

With the images I've used, it doesn't work at all. It seems like someone cut a person and put it in front of another image and moved the two images. Like for me Turbo was REALLY bad. I hope the paid Alpha model is not that bad.
