NY to Chicago? Flying through a snowstorm instead of over it in an electric plane. What could go wrong? The flight time savings quoted are only possible because of low-altitude flight and vertical take-off and landing. The technology will have its place, but battery powered flight (using currently available technology) will be impractical in extreme cold and icy conditions.

Not afraid of change. I did experimental testing for the USAF, USN, USMC, USAR, USCG & 25 foreign countries. I also deployed to combat 13 times. I assure you that I am not afraid. Since 2007 there have been 14 crashes & 54 Marines killed. Only 2 of those were combat related. That's just the Marines and does not include injuries. It is just not an acceptable loss rate, especially for the personnel. @@johnzubil2875
