"Rapture-Palooza" is the best rapture movie I've ever seen. There's a character who gets raptured and then sent back because Heaven doesn't wanna put up with her. You can't beat a moment like that.

Preteen girls, getting left behind....oh yes. I was having a conversation with a friend, ( the mother of three girls, by the way.) and we were talking about how preteen girls are horrible, when her husband walked in, and cluelessly tried to argue that they were are sweetness, and light, and we both said " girls that age are EVIL! 52:10 I remember reading the books and being really bugged by that idea. Like, if there's somebody that owns a bunch of animals, and they are one of those Christians that is 100% sure that the rapture is going to happen within their lifetime and that they are going to be one of the raptured (and there are a lot of characters in the book that fit this category), then they must know that at some point they are going to be raptured and all of their animals are going to be left by themselves with no way to care for themselves. Like, if there's somebody that believes in the rapture, and all the animals they own are strictly indoor animals, then they're just a huge piece of shit.

Why can't there be a Christian Rapture movie taking place during several years into it, where its some insane post-apocalypse hellhole (along with dystopian future themes, since you know, you can set it in the future)! If you've read Revelations, its a metal album come to life. You can literally have Hell on Earth + possible Cyberpunk + Dystopian Future! Revelations has tons of crazy imagery, USE IT! If Christian Directors want a movie that scares people into converting to Christianity (as what I imagine is the whole point to creating a Christian Rapture movie), just make a movie that's pure nightmare fuel! That's all they need to do! I took an entire class on Revelations at a Baptist High School, teacher was convinced the Rapture was coming in a few short years. Dude had a crazy imagination, with the Mark of the Beast being cybernetic implanted identifiers, plagues killing millions, entire nations crumbling in constant war ... he should have written for a movie like this :P

Hey, Brad, I have a question: Has this movie anything that makes it bible store material? Because I have been to a bible store lately (don't ask...I am not religious, however) and there where bible and christianity related DVDs were, there was also Left Behind (as well as War Room etc. btw). I am just a bit confused.

18:14 and 18:45 Y'all bring up living in a religious area and growing up in sunday school/religious schools quit a bit during Christian movie reviews but are surprisingly uninformed about the specifics of the Christian religion.
@akiuop1238 жыл бұрын
You took those statements completely out of context. They're not uninformed. They're saying that, despite what the Bible says, it's wrong that good people like this Muslim character get shut out for what are essentially bullshit reasons, and that so many kids are bastards that it's unrealistic they would all get taken during the Rapture, no matter what the Bible says.
@marcorivera58348 жыл бұрын
I'll agree that I may have jumped the gun on the children bit. The movie raptures the children as a reference to the Christian age of accountability which is when a child is held accountable for his own sin/decisions before God and ranges from 6 years of age to 20 years old depending on the denomination. It's one of those topics not explicitly stated in the Bible much like masturbation and is heavily debated in the Christian world. So whatever denomination the SGP group may not have taught about it. However most denominations agree that the only way to salvation is through Christianity in accordance with Romans 10:9. So all other religions and worldviews are damned to hell in the Christian mythology. Now the cux of their argument was that the Muslim character was a good and righteous man so it's bullshit for him to be damned to hell which would is more of a statement on Christianity it's self then the movie. My original statement was made out of annoyance that they went went to a Christian movie and questioned the mythology of the source material rather then comment on the movie. Admittedly, I did a poor job of communicated that point. Kind of like how a nerd might angrily sputter at a friend who watches the Hulk and says "that's not how radiation works." To be honest I mashed that comment out so lazily because I didn't think I would ever get a response.
@akiuop1238 жыл бұрын
To be fair, when giving one's opinion on a Christian movie, you almost have to give at least a sliver of your opinion on the faith as well. It helps to know where one's coming from when reviewing this kind of movie. Also, it's ridiculously difficult to talk about Christian movies, especially the really bad ones like this, and not talk about the religion itself too, warts and all. Thus, I get what you're saying. But imo, they talked about the movie more than Christianity itself, and when they did talk about Christianity, they brought up solid points.
@marcorivera58348 жыл бұрын
Oh most definitely and you're right they brought up very good points both about the movie and the religion. If I remember right this was the last of the christian movies reviews I marathoned and it seemed like in everyone of them they brought up their religious background but then seemed genuinely confused on common aspects of Christianity. It was me being petty, annoyed and no doubt sleep deprived.
