Ok so after a ton of struggling, if you use Auto Rig Pro the gist is the same but instead of selecting each individual bone like the video, you want to select the parts the rig is connected to like the head is connected to c_head.x The bicep is c_arm_ik.r and so on. Hope this helps any future modelers looking for this solution.

HI, thank yuo so much for this tut, but I've a question and precisely you've parented the mesh to the weave based on Automatic Weights, but isn't it better and easier and faster to parent everything with Vertex Groups?

I got a similar robot and i was wondering, how can i make the shoulder caps move properly? right now they either follow the torso o follow the arm

It’s hard for me to say without seeing the model, but similar to how you add extra bones to start the arms and legs, add a free floating bone for the shoulder cap. I would still parent it to the torso or the shoulder so that it moves when the rest of the body moves but then at least you have to ability to move it independently as well. I hope that makes sense.

@@MidnightHatterit does! Ill try that out then. Thanks! i started using blender a couple of weeks ago (had some experience with 3dsmax) and this video helped me a ton.

Thanks! Blender is a lot of fun to use. I know the learning curve can be steeper than the paid programs out there. My biggest tip is modifiers are your best friend!

Thank u so much,this is what i need! And one more question,how to make robot docking or some transform?Like open the cockpit or switch to another form(ms to ma mode)?
@MidnightHatter2 жыл бұрын
That would be a more complicated rig, but you can add bones for individual components like cockpit hatches, skirt flaps, etc. A good practice would be to add those bones individually, align them where you want, make them a child of the armature with the “Keep Offset” option, then paint the part of the model you want it to control. Let me know if you’d like to see a video of this!

I see you also don't have a solution for the abdomen coming out.
