Midwest Gas Can Hack 1

In this video I modify a Harbor Freight Tool Midwest brand 2 gallon gas can to function like the simple gas cans that were made before 2009. I have take the best of other youtuber's modifications as well as some of my own to make a simple, easy to use gas can.

That white mesh is there to stop a flame front from progressing into the can if there's a spark or ignition source when you're using it. I find that it works best at preventing flame from progressing into the can by preventing gas from being put in the can in the first place.

Yes, two functions in one... intended to be a "Flame Arrester" but much more successful as a "Frustration Generator!"

Have one of these but hate that the nozzle stores inside the gas can, nozzle gets dirty gas gets contaminated... plus the fancy rubber gasket, not the O-ring only lasted a year before it failed

I took mine out as while (that white thing). I also replaced the nozzle and put a vent on it.

What is the height of the gas can with the spout tucked inside the can? I am looking for a can I can store inside of a vented truck box that is only 10 inches tall.

Nice fix.👍🏻 The screen is an unnecessary “improvement “ which makes filling the fuel can at the pump, incredibly difficult. I cannot think of a time when spark will be near my open fuel can. (I’m here because I just bought two)

wouldn't blow up anyways, i've lit my generator tank on fire in the middle of the night when i didnt have a flashlight and was flicking my bic lighter trying to see how much fuel was left lol, just put the cap back on and it extuingishes

The only purpose of the white inner "filter sleeve" really was to prevent one from flipping the spout over and tucking it inside the can! Pulling that out was the best thing to do!
