They finally sent one of their own techs, who did a great job and was able to fix the machine in less than 10 minutes, after I waited and went through hell with them for over 3 months!

You should share with us those tips the technician told you. I bought my second Miele on Saturday and they came to install it. I had my first one for 7 years . it was awful when the technician said that the spare part cost more than the washer itself. Here in Australia you pay 150 only to book and from there you pay 33 dollars for every 10 min they work on it. It’s really bad.😫

Thanks for this, really helps to know the nature of this fault as we're having the same problem with our W1 Miele washing machine - 4 years young. Never had these problems with our last Miele washing machine. Just wish they stuck with mechanical buttons (fancy tech disappoints again). USA Miele customer service sounds really bad. But i would prefer that to nothing. which is what we are facing as there are no Miele service partners in the French territory we are now living in. Looks like i'm gonna have to learn how to repair the sensors myself.

Thats great news that its going. Get the hair dryer out should it start glitching. My two tips are 1) Always leave the door open when not in use so it doesn't go mouldy and so the drum spider doesn't rust and 2) NEVER use fabric softener as it builds up within the machine and worse, it eventually chokes the heat pump drier with the greasy build up. All the best

Hmm according to a lot of reports, Miele ranks among the top 5 brands in terms of reliability/quality. Can't speak about their customer service, this certainly varies from place to place so I understand your frustration. My parents have an old washing machine from Miele that they bought refurbished in 2004. It is still working flawlessly. The newer models are probably not as robust, and the more complex something is, the more likely it is to break. Hopefully they improve their US customer service.

I'm going to guess: not using the fast programs all the time... And using powder instead of liquid detergent. Amongst other tips. And cleaning the machine using its cleaning program or a 90/95 degrees (C) empty cotton wash every month to 6 months... Depending on how often you wash.

I’ve never heard such a strange story about Miele being crap or such. You must have had a a single unique experience. It can happen, especially because third party mechanics came. You keep telling how bad Miele is, but more interesting is what the Miele technician exactly advised you. And also why not to use the prewash? Can you make a video about that? And how’s it washing now? In my experience Mieles service and product quality is beyond excellence. The Miele washers rank #1 reliability together with brands as Asko and Schulthess. These machines last between 5000 to 10000 cycles. My mother has a Miele washer of over 35 years, still working great. If you were talking about crappy machines of LG or Samsung, I’d believe ya instantly. You just had a one time bad luck. Shit happens.
@mattstroker3742
@mattstroker3742 Жыл бұрын
I've had no problems with LG but hear they do have a lot of problems,just like Samsung. But Miele or Bosch or AEG or Siemens? I'm really surprised to hear things went the way they went in this case. AEG now is in German hands again, I heard. Still a Electrolux Group company though? I don't know how that would work then but... Okay, fine. AEG had also always been a very good brand. Like Miele. But apparently that went sideways. So now they have a all-in repair price for their washing machines. On-site engineer, diagnosis, parts, labour: 219 euro's. Just to illustrate they truly fully support their engineering, I guess. That is one thing Miele could do better. I do not understand why such a company won't. Can you imagine? With all the crap that's out there these days? If you make a quality product that doesn't break and in the unlikely event that it does over time, you pamper the customer a bit with the service and costs. Within a few years you would have all but the entire market. Just not the entry level 300-500 dollar part. Hell, even when I ran my IT company I did things that way. And yes, it takes time and money but even the big-brand companies in our area had to pack up and leave eventually. We had more work than we could handle. Which is not a good thing... Cuz that reflects bad on the customer. So I get why things might be hard to get off the ground or maintaining when at certain points but it really does pay off. And companies like Samsung etc just don't seem to give a isht. Too big to fail, I guess....

My Miele washer from about 2008 worked flawlessly. I thought it had a bad main bearing but turns out it was just the shock absorbers which were cheap and easy to replace. I checked the main bearing and both it and the seal were totally intact. However, before I tore it apart and found all this out, I bought a new W1. It's very disappointing because unlike the old one ,this new one fails on two points. If you try to use the prewash function, it faults after the prewash but before it goes to the main wash. It throws an "intake error" code. It also fails on the "add laundry" function. Half the time it won't even let you add laundry. When it does allow you to add laundry, and you press the start button to resume the program, it throws the "intake error" fault code. My retailer took it back and brought a replacement and it functions exactly the same! This certainly appears to be a design flaw. When you open the door it drips down the front of the machine, my old one didn't do that. I still have the old one and may put it back in service. I was a rabid Miele fan before this, I have a dishwasher from the mid 2000's and it still works flawlessly. But this W1 washer is a sad specimen.

That's really bad. For the price. And also one disadvantage of non-wifi enabled devices: you can't easily update the software yourself. On the other hand... wasn't there a microwave some time ago? Also from a well-known brand. It updated automatically and after that update it thought it was an oven. And did not have it's internet functionality enabled anymore. So they had to send out engineers to everyone that called in, just to open it up and.... well, I suspect flash the eeprom manually. 😂😂

So it’s fixed and you have a great machine. Miele is a German company that isn’t popular at all in the USA. In Europe (where they are super popular) the costumer service is amazing. (they will come the same day if you call before noon or the next day if you call after that.) I agree that Miele should step up their game in the USA. But they’re just starting out there. It’s just been a few years that they offer 120 volt machines. You had to get a 240 volt outlet previously. (Which obviously nobody did.) So give them some time. In 5-10 years they’re gonna adapt to the US market and everything will be fine. And these machines are known to last more than 20 years. My last one I bought when I moved out of my parents house and I replaced it like 3 to 4 years ago nog because it was broken but because I wanted a washer that could do a 20 lbs load. I gave my 16 year old washer away to my nephew and he’s still using it with his wife. So my previous Miele is now 20 years old and still working great.

Thanks for stopping by Jaime and thank you for your comment. Yes, I hear good things about them in Europe. But that does me (or anyone in the US) no good. And from what I've been told (by their own people!) they're not headed in the right direction. I paid a LOT of money for the machines, I should not be "taxed" with their growing pains! On top of that, their motherboards are faulty. Not sure if you saw or heard that in the video. I thought "German quality" stood for something, and I was wrong! Overpriced and not worth the money. Sorry!

Technician was already three times at my house…. after 7 months of use twindos was broken, they try to repair 2 times unsuccesfully…Also washing cycles at high temperatures (60 and above) machine is clicking, probably springs…Also by spin there is a lot of vibrating like some cheap plastic….I bought also new Miele dryer with the loud knocking noise…. tehnician said that is normal…. @mattstroker3742
@mattstroker3742 Жыл бұрын
That issue is solved by getting some white lithium grease, opening the machine and spraying all the points that the springs are connected to. Shouldn't be a need to replace the shock absorbers like some did but if you do they are cheap and easily replaced. Just make sure the current ones are tightened up enough. But the ticking sound shouldn't have happened. It's a known issue and easily fixed. Yet somehow many techs don't seem to know about it. Really sad.

Hi! Miele washing machines and washer-dryers cost more in spite of other brands for nothing as even Miele always have problems and often very serious ones especially in the electronics which always has failures and burning problems of the electronic boards themselves. Their very high price is truly unjustified and unjustifiable! The electronic boards are not made in Germany and the spare parts cost almost as much as a new washing machine! Other less expensive brands work great and never have any problems of any kind! Furthermore, it must be added that the much vaunted honeycomb drum does not wash well at all, indeed if you make a comparison with the old Mieles that used the drum with holes, the latter wash much much better! The honeycomb drum was just a publicity stunt and nothing more! Regards!

@mattstroker3742

If this is the way Miele is doing stuff in the US I get why it's brand isn't taking off in the US. In Europe they're top-notch. Maybe they should put a Dutch or German person in charge over there. 100% they are not going to allow a bit of cash concerning service be the downfall of it's start over there. I know they're fairly new in the US, correct? I am sooooo sure that if this type of thing is "diagnosed" to be an issue in the US and it continues to be that way.... Well, the people in charge are going to be out of a job before such news (with proof) reaches German management a third time. Hell, even in the German supermarkets like Aldi and Lidl there is no mucking about. Especially not when it comes to things like laptops or other tech/non-food products. Customer is king. Always. Typical German thing within large companies. Especially ones that are trying to gain ground in new countries where competitors are sharking around to crush newcomers. You perform bad for no good reason as an employee OR management? You're get a chance to fix it but if not? You're done. Time is time. Performance is performance. Products need to be flawless. Service needs to breathe that certainty to the customers also. I really hope that's a one off. If not, I might be fishing for a job at Miele's German management in their US department 😁 The 2 sons of the man that built Miele as a company and brand in Germany are still in charge there and they are trying to gain the US as a new market. They will not be happy if someone messes that up. For NO reason whatsoever. They probably want to leave a legacy behind, like their father did. And staining the companies name for a few million dollars in service costs isn't going to sit well with them. I repair lots of stuff. Always have. Always will. If you open up the next best brands in the market in Europe: AEG, Bosch, Siemens... many of even *them* will have the outside drum be made of plastic. Miele, even on the entry level machines, will have a stainless steel drum. Samsung etc often will just design a machine and add weight, like concrete blocks inside the machine to give it weight. Miele? Nah. They engineer the isht out of it and just use steel to reinforce areas known to cause problems or instability. There are stabilization weights located on the outside of the steel drum that are a bit moveable when the bolts are loosened in order to be able to balance the machine better in individual cases and to add structural strength. All washing machines from the Electrolux Group have been known to have bad motherboards/CPU issues for years. Even AEG. Miele? Nope. Other companies having issues to deliver machines or parts right now? Yep. Miele? In stock. They engineer so much themselves or apply the same German "Gründlichkeit" to the rest of their business as they do to their engineering and work-ethic. I have just bought a Miele. About the same model as you have, I'd say. The worst that seems to have happened to Miele with these machines is that for some time apparently QC failed to detect that there wasn't lithium grease added to the points where the springs are hung from, which hold the weight of the entire drum and its stabilising weights I mentioned. Which made the machines have a ticking noise after some time. Some customers in the beginning even got their shock absorbers replaced during the same service visit, just to be sure. During the COVID years some stuff went wrong, I guess. But nothing like the Samsung machines or LGs with a whole number of defects, often just outside of warranty, which made repair often not economically viable, unless one could do it themselves. Then again, with Miele or Bosch or Siemens or AEG you do pay extra, quite a bit, so it shouldn't happen. Which is why I am so surprised to hear about the bad service levels in the US. AEG is in German hands again, sadly an Electrolux Group company still but they at least offer a service: 219 euro's all-in-repair of their washing machines, no matter what. So if it's outside of warranty and your drum needs replacing, they send someone over, diagnoses the problem and fixes it, parts included, for 219. Which is not a lot of cash for 1000+ euro machine that has been working for 7 years and then needs a repair. If it's just a pump or motherboard or heating element it might be an even-steven price but if the motor fails (all German brands offer a 10 years no-bs warranty on that part I think, so then you won't have to pay anything anyway) or the drum breaks etc it really is a good deal taking into account its age. So yeah... should you ever have a problem with a Miele in the US, just make sure to add a CC to the German head office 😂😂😂 I think if that happens a couple of times the management will be kicked out. They shouldn't send out third party engineers unless they're fully certified and have access to all the same data as their own engineers have. For the price we have to pay to get a bit of quality these days, be it Miele or Tesla, certain things just should not be happening. Like... really really. Sorry for the rant 😂😂😂 Now it's working. It should last you 20 years. No joke. Maybe some small repairs like a broken pump or bearing or heating element, over time. IF that.

If you want to make a video pointing out problems and then covering the experience, leave out the parts about bashing the companies name. It comes across as very childish. I do not work for Miele. We have owned Miele washers for decades. We own the WWH860 and have over 8000 hours on it. Dryer working fine as well. Service really comes down to WHO is doing the service. As you noted Miele's OWN techs do a great job. If a third party is doing the service, then you are at their mercy. Many have crap technicians. You will find this is true of almost ALL companies today. NO ONE cares once they have your money unless they are on the hook with a service contract.

I agree completely, it’s just bashing an excellent brand, maybe out of misplaced superiority.

Nope, mispronouncing their name didn't make me feel better at all. Then again, I still don't give a shit being that they didn't give a shit about being respectful of me and providing good customer service in a timely fashion. So yeah! BTW fix your typos!

I have a Miele washer dryer WTH/120/WPM twin Dos... purchased in 2016 for £1600. Less than a year after the 3yr warranty expired it cost me £400 for a replacement circuit board on the Twin Dos system.... 15mths after this it developed a leak in the part that holds the pull out draw for detergent and cost me another £364 to replace. These machines are absolute rubbish for the cost paid... They advertise the fact that there machines should last 20yrs without issue.... Utter bullshit... Never again will i purchase a Miele product.... You have been warned!
