I always loved this wagon, the mirrors remind me of when I was younger and I would see a 1977 ford Ltd with the factory driver side mirror and it would have the mirror from a impala, great times it was then.

I collect 1/18 scale cars and both this one and the Colony Park arrived this week. I mostly bought these because I loved these cars as a kid, knowing the quality is not up to that of many others I have. My Country Squire has the same mirror issue so I suppose quite a few if not all of them are like that. The driver door mirror is the correct one for 1979 until about1981 and then it went to the style that is on the passenger door. Thanks for confirming it’s not just me that has one with mismatched mirrors!

This is really good illustration of how something gets lost in translation between two different countries trying to make one product

I'm glad I wasn't the only weird kid that loved station wagons! I remember riding my bike down to the local Chevy dealer and getting my Caprice brochure when I heard they were dropping the wagons after '96. I would love to get some of these to add to my collection but they just look cheap to me and all the quality control issues would not go well with my OCD! There are plenty of nice big American cars from the '70s and '80s that have been offered in 1:18 scale though in recent years with nice accurate detail. If only they were around when I was a kid, I would have been in Heaven! I used to pretend I had a shrinking machine so I could shrink down the land yachts I loved and play with them since nobody was even dreaming of making them in scale then.

The grand Marquis was always a ft longer than the crown Victoria. The grand Marquis was higher end then Crown Victoria & was supposed to be the lower end of Lincoln. The Grand Marquis was considered the "POOR MANS LINCOLN" i found that information saying that online.

Any idea on if Greenlight has plans to or might possibly do the sedan versions of these cars? Had a white '91 Grand Marquis in the family for awhile that I'd like to get as diecast if possible. If not though I'd be ok with the Colony Park.

@@viktoriabegg3968 they are still out there. this one was one of the first or second 1/18 wagons greenlight did, the white grand marquis i think was first. i keep up with my favorite mfg's so i know what cars they are going to release before they become available. I was looking out for these when they were released so i could buy them before they got sold out. It did surprise me though how much they are going for now. while these cars a cool they have some inaccuracies. but since they are the only ones ever cast i can see why they are now so sought after. maybe greenlight will release these again and you will be able to get one. Keep eye on ebay.

Great in depth review. Car looks great in dark blue, hate those pastel colors. I wish greenlight did some of these wagons in 1/43 scale too, because in 1/18 they take up so much space lol

Thanks mate. I love wagons my Family had a 1987 XF Ford Falcon when i was a kid. I was surprised to hear the last American wagon was built in 1996. In Australia the Falcon wagon was built until 2010.

The white Mercury Station wagon is in the model years of 1989 to 1991 and I didn't see the Mercury didn't have the third brake light on the back and do you have the 1979 Mercury station wagon.
@tyler26104 жыл бұрын
Ford also used a "planked" style wood grain up until 1982 I believe. This is another small detail I believe they got right on the small 1:64 models but managed to screw up on these large models where it should be easier to make them more accurate. I just don't get it!

Looks great! I always watch your reviews before buying these. Also, I wonder why they even bothered putting that door mounted mirror on the passenger side, it looks so odd. Starting in 1981 you could no longer order the “aero mirrors” and could only get the door mounted ones. Also you mentioned about the turn signal lenses, they were indeed clear in ‘79, but I think mid year they changed them to orange, so technically this model is correct. I do prefer the clear though.
@Migs_Models4 жыл бұрын
I changed the lowers to clear a couple days ago looks great and I removed the passenger mirror as well much better now
@fordmavericksosx35694 жыл бұрын
Mig’s Models Awesome! Please post a photo of the car with the new changes. Also, how did you go about removing the orange?
@Migs_Models4 жыл бұрын
@@fordmavericksosx3569 well did the same process that i did when i fixed the mercury signals, which i went over at the end of my Dodge Coronet CHP video, just take apart the front end and take brake fluid and acetone and lightly wipe the orange off the lens, as Greenlight paints the Orange on the clear plastic.
@fordmavericksosx35694 жыл бұрын
Mig’s Models Interesting. I’ll probably do that with mine.
@Migs_Models4 жыл бұрын
Be carful and make sure that the acetone only goes on the part you want to take the orange off it will discolor and melt plastic so light pressure passes will do the trick. the brake fluid can be used all over it will not cloud the plastic but it takes longer to remove the orange. but I start with it because it’s easier on the parts. I don’t mind though to get the last of the orange off with the acetone because I prefer the cloudy look to replicate the clear lenses on signal areas like the real car and I just take time to make sure the headlights remain clear. As the Greenlight part is all one clear piece under the chrome bezel. Just take your time
