This should have been a video about how content creators can use various filming and editing techniques to make viewers think legitimate businesses and the hard-working people within them are scammers when they're not. I particularly enjoyed how the bank's antifraud service was the result of Moog's user error and entering an incorrect name. Still, we were led to believe something nefarious was going on. Bravo.

Thanks for being honest about the dealership not being a scam in the end. But, still be careful. I saw another comment mentioning that it could just be a money laundering operation instead... Love the show and will continue to watch it but just be mindful of the possibility that selling cheap cars with e-transfers, it would be pretty easy to move vast amounts of money around and launder it if needed...

Very rich Asians in China, Singapore, Korea etc, will send their kids to top universities overseas to get their education. While the kids are there, they buy near/brand new cars because they are so much cheaper than in their home country. When they leave for home, they sell the car for dead cheap because they don't care about the money. Those are the unbelievable deals you see sometimes that appear to be scams. I'd say the dealer in this case knows where to get leaving-the-country cars.

@garthor Corruption is probably one big reason, especially in developing nations, corrupted authorities and scammers end up making those places scam central. Even with expose from scambaiting channels, the police in those places did nothing. Even if action was taken, it's all just for show. Scammers were tipped to go into hiding ahead of time, and when the storm dies down, it's business as usual, or they'll just keep on scamming as a different entity. An endless cycle.

@@stephensteele3553 Corrupted officials and scammers go hand in hand in making these regions scam central. Sometimes the officials are directly involved too, cheating both international and locals. No matter how many expose videos done by those scambaiting channels do, the police won't do anything. They would only take action if there is media pressure, and even that is just a PR song and dance, as often those involved are tipped off in advanced to go into hiding. We picked up the cheapest JL Wrangler Rubicon in the country at the time. As you were sus so were we.. We did all the same checks and felt quite nervous. The only reason we didnt walk away to be honest is that the i am very familiar with these Jeeps and have built one up myself. I knew where to look and and what to ask. The dealer knew nothing about the vehicle. We have built my mates JL into a big rig and its running flawless. Risk it to get the biscuit. Well done on the episode!

I live in Germany and I found a car in Finland. Nothing unusual. The car was on German plates. Perfect. But. The "owner" works on an oil rig and he needs to get rid of the car, and that's why it's 30% cheaper than the others with same age, mileage, etc. So I told him that I will be in Finland in two days to check the car. Never heard from him again.

@@DG_427 We also have salt on the roads for at least 5 months of the year. Also I'd rather buy a car with 150 000km on the clock that has been driving long distances, than a car with 90 000km that has only been driving short trips. Btw I thought you guys have less or no salt on the roads and drive with spikes 🤔 What I can definitely tell you though is: the warmer it is, the worse the salt becomes. When it's significantly under 0°, the salt tends to stay solid and not get so slushy. In most regions in germany the temperature doesn't stay below 0 for long time spans. So winter is pretty wet here. The salt mixes with the melting snow (that already melts without the salt) and you have a brown salty slush on the roads for about 4 months. Since climate change started to kick in the winters in germany (or at least my region) are terrible.

after seeing how easy it is to wind back kms on most modern cars I always judge a car based not on mileage but on its physical condition as its presented to me, also wear depends hugely on how the car was driven and how it was cared for. you can have something that was abused for 100,000km but then there's another really tidy example with 300,00+ and you'd never be able to tell it had that high of kms by its condition

I tried selling on Marketplace once. And I attempted to sell one of my tech gadgets, following the average price of other postings. Massive waste of time. What I got was just a bunch of people messaging "Is this still available", only to never hear back for them when I replied. And then there was this one guy desperately trying to lowball me. Kept sending a message saying "I'll give you cash for this, close the deal right now" almost everyday even after I ignored his messages. Gave up and took the listing down. To be honest, what can we expect if Marketplace is easily accessible to the users of a massive brain rot platform. Whatever good online sales page local to you, best just to stick to that. At least they're made by and for the people who knows how online sales platforms should work.

Guess he's had them a while at a good price and like he said, with the economy being so fickle these days it's probably not the best idea for a smaller business to be holding a lot of stock at this time. Look forward to seeing what you do with this motor. My brother also has a classic and bmw mini! Sold my VW Amarok recently through Trademe, a New Zealand website which is similar in ways to eBay. Within 24 hours of listing the vehicle, I had several scammers contact me who wanted to inspect the car. After they asked basic questions, they then demanded I pay for an online vehicle history check from a dodgy website based in India. The website required a VIN number, and claimed to generate a report after entering credit card details. Yeah...nah. Would love to see a video that exposes car parts scammers. The thing is though losing £300 isn't really a life changing amount if it's a scam for 99.99% of car buyers - it sucks for sure, but your credit rating isn't going to get hammered, your lifestyle isn't really going to change too much. I'd take that gamble as well. But once once you get to £5000, £10000 or even higher average joe is going to take time recovering.

here in the US, the only problem with CarFax is that it only reports damage that was reported to the insurance company. If you ding up a car, have Uncle Elmer fix it in the barn and then trade the thing fast to get rid of, you have no idea it's been damaged. If the dealer where it was traded realizes the car has been hit and repaired, they generally send it to auction where it goes to second or third-tier dealers (the dreaded 'buy here-pay here' lots) where someone gets stuck with it. Also, in some states here, cars can be write-offs (we call them totaled) and still be re-registered. In my home state of New York, if you buy a car that has been written off by an insurer, it is an expensive ordeal to make the car road-legal again.

The engine bay and interior of the modern mini is... just about the most disappointing interior i've ever been or worked on (cousin of mine had the misfortune of brain damage to buy one). The modern mini is the definition of "made to appease to old fame". It's probably an even bigger scam than the ones presented in the video given the fact that BMW had 170% the ability, know-how, and monetary power to put proper guts in the shells (which don't look too bad). And i mean, i can get it being as big as it is, but i cannot forgive just how bad it is under the thin veneer of "old mini". For shame.
