These look so great! I'd love to see these printed in a translucent finish with just a light wash of color for detail but still keeping them see thru and somehow have them lit from below so theyd glow. If they were permanently placed on the board there could be holes drilled out below the feet so some light piping could be installed. i have no way to do this myself so im throwing it there for you with your resources to make it a reality. And go! 😂
@marcomarterer72323 жыл бұрын

Just so you know, filling in the lines on top of the board or other details would be really easy to do in CAD software. I use Autodesk Inventor, but Fusion 360 is very similar and has free versions. 1. Open stl in cad software, 2.Start a 2D sketch by clicking on the details that you want to fill in (the lines) 3. Project geometry of the lines OR make a shape that would fit all the details in but wouldn’t stick out. In this case a circle the same size or slighty bigger than the last circle, 4. Extrude to the top (should be an option that lets you click on something to determine extrusion length) 5. Export as .stl I don’t know if that’s something you know how to do or would want to do in this instance, but it’s easy to fill in details that if the top is flat. Much harder to cut into an stl or to fill in details if the top isn’t flat.
@MightyJabbasCollection3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I’m capable of doing this, and maybe I should have, but then it would require manually figuring out where all the squares should be and I thought it might look worse than just leaving the lines, so I left it

Thanks. I considered trying to print them in some kind of translucent material but I couldn’t figure out how to actually paint them on top of it in a way that would preserve the transparent look

@MightyJabbasCollection3 жыл бұрын
Yes they originally made 10 pieces, and apparently Tippet recreated the two extras as rewards for a Kickstarter campaign. I don't think there are 3D models available for the extra two, but it would be cool to make them as well.

This is such a neat project, totally top of the line collector’s item. I got my first printer this Christmas, and I find myself wanting to bash out projects and displays, similar to your channel, but find that organizing them in a way that makes them all meaningful is pretty difficult. Can you share any recommendations for display or organization? Also have to ask, how do you get your paint coats so even? Finally started getting into acrylic painting models and I can’t seem to get nearly as this
@MightyJabbasCollection3 жыл бұрын
Can you expand on what you mean by organization? As for the paint, I’m not sure I’m doing anything special, but you do often need to do more than one coat to get full coverage, and of course you want to make sure you’ve shaken up the paint enough. What kind of paint are you using?

Great Video!! I really enjoy watching the process of 3D printing/assembling/painting larger items. Is it possible to see your work on such items as Desert Octopus' Krykna spider, Slave 1 or Imperial TIE Fighter? Also, do you know if any print models of the 3 3/4" Star Trek The Motion Picture figures are available? Mego did an excellent job on the design of these toys and they are often forgotten by many 3D print creators. Thanks for your time!

I’m sure I will be doing some more Desert Octopus stuff although I’m not sure exactly what. I haven’t seen any models for the Star Trek figures yet. I don’t think I own the Motion Picture toys but I do have most of the Playmates line of Star Trek TNG figures.

With the book of boba Fett and other SW shows in the works, it’d be cool (I guess you could call it an Easter egg because that’s what they like to do) if there were a scene of an arena with a live action dejarik game happening. I assume The monsters must be based off of actual creatures out there so why not have a huge fan fare of people placing bets on a real version that someone took the time to hunt down and organize the actual creatures to fight each other. Get Disney on the phone.
