Paul Butterfield’s first performance in Europe - Rockpalast at Grugahalle Essen 15th September 1978. Paul Butterfield had developed the blues feel of his unique blues harp, working with blues giants such as Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf and Little Walter. Together with Paul Butterfield Blues Band, founded in 1965, “Butter” was the white ambassador of the black Chicago blues. He had played on the third day of the Woodstock festival (1969), at the time already accompanied by guitarist Buzzy Feiten, who was also with him at the Rockpalast performance.

He also played with Paul Butterfield at the Woodstock festival. I think he was 18 years old and already playing. He's played with a lot of people. Rick Lee Jones, among others, and has a solo career too. The guy with the Gibson 335 is good too and I've never heard of him.

Buzz Feiten. He played on only one BBB album. Keep on Moving. 1969.

@@delmedeiros3570 According to Wiki, Buzz was born in '48, and if so 20 or 21 at Woodstock. He does look like he's about 15 there though!

The Band played Rockpalast in 1996. BMG officially released the concert on DVD as "Live At Loreley".

Paul Butterfield was always good (the harmonica not always clearly audible in the mix in some songs here - and the - in my humble opinion - "overacting" guitars too loud). But nothing beats the first line-up (the one from the first two albums) with the Howlin' Wolf rhythm section, with Elvin Bishop and with the great Mike Bloomfield. "Butter" was also the only harp player I know who played the harmonica "in reverse": the high notes on the left, the low notes on the right.
