FYI, angry French farmers used to attack and burn Andalusian (and other Spanish) trucks carrying fresh produce, at the border between Spain and France: the reason being, Spain, especially, Andalusia, was able to deliver better vegetables, at a lower price, and earlier than their season, thanks to the warmer climate. Because is mostly a local phenomenon, that area is full of africans because there's a lot of badly paid jobs in the greenhouses and some owners don't ask for papers if they can get cheap labour. It's also the southern coast where everyday tens or hundreds of small boats arrive at the beaches full of migrants. You also see lots of africans in rural areas for fruit picking during the season. Also in big cities. But it will get worse if we, Europeans, don't change inmigration laws and start to deport people, starting with the ones that commit crimes.

Thank you for showing us places we would never have seen. It also improves my Spanish to listen to you speak in the colloquial way. It seems that the 1st World countries of Europe didn't reproduce enough to support the retiring Baby Boomers so we threw the doors open to everyone. On one level it makes perfect sense but a country IS it's people IS it's culture. What will happen to Spanish or British identity if this continues? I have no problem with people of any ethnicity but think it is vital that we only allow desirable people into the country not criminals and thugs. Or worse maybe spies or sabs from antagonistic countries like China or Russia. I wish Government would realise there are always trade-offs to any policy including this one.

So, Elliot, you live in Malaga. I always hear that Spain is safe. I have been there and felt very safe. The only negative experience I had was being harassed by dozens of African immigrants in Puerto Banús trying to sell my wife and me something. They were very obnoxious. Other than that, we have always had excellent and safe stays. What is your verdict and impressions? We have been considering moving to the Malaga area and will be there for a month in June.
