My wife just bought my mom’s 2004 Honda pilot with 104k miles on it. She has every service record ever done on the car. She took incredible care of the car it looks a couple years old not 20 years old. Upgrading the stereo and adding a back up camera for my wife. Treating the plastic trim today to make it look brand new

We have owned several of these cars and have enjoyed each of them. Unfortunately wrecks have killed all but the last one. We currently have a 2007 with over 270k and it is my wife’s daily driver. She had a brand new Kia and basically gave it to our daughter because she wanted to drive the Pilot! It just got new tires today, new front suspension a month or so ago. My next projects are to replace the power steering pump, overhaul the rear suspension, and replace the headlight lenses. We plan to drive it until the wheels fall off and then put them right back on and drive it some more!
@impossiblestrive3 ай бұрын
thank you! my mom personally has had the car since I was six, for nine years it drove perfect but last year I accidentally got in a minor collision and broke the rod resulting the tire coming off and all that. After the replacement it drive just fine but the steering wheel now is extremely difficult to turn, in replacing it the liquid it all poured right now. Can you do a steering pump replacement video?
@richdalley8250Ай бұрын
Not sure if you have already replaced the power steering pump, but the power steering pump on our '06 Pilot was making noise, saw a video on YT, they said bad O rings are a common cause of this noise. Went to the dealership, spent $6 on two O rings, were easy to install, power steering still feels like new today.

I have an 07 with 212,000. If maintained the engine and transmission are bulletproof. The engine does not use a drop of oil between oil changes. Always use Honda ATF during transmission drain and fill. The rear subframe issue is a concern. Living up North I religiously fluid film that area. It does eat control arms and other suspension parts. I'm on my third ones and used MOOG when I replaced them 2nd time. Suspension parts, an A/C compressor at 100k and a radiator at 110k along with 2 timing belt services have been my only major repair expenses. Runs like a champ though and is my wife's favorite car ever.

You make sure the transmission issues been resolved, passenger airbag recalls been serviced, and the timing belts been replaced within the last 1-5 years, there's no reason you buy one with 150k+ miles on it you can't put another 50k-100k with regular service. I'd also keep watch of the wheels and how corroded they are. My '04 honda pilot had corrosion on all 4 wheels when i bought it and the tires would lose 5-10 PSI a week until i got them fixed due to poor sealing. Eventually replaced the wheels and tires with something sportier anyway, but something to keep an eye out for because alloy wheels love to corrode.
