I get that Breen was just making a point about Patrick and Melo getting the praise/heat for Knicks performance, but that’s where the similarity ends. @@austinburwell5834 There were behind the scenes issues with D'antoni that hurt the team and Melo's play. D'antoni took some of those same bad coaching moves to LA and sunk Gasol's career. By the time the Knicks got the coach they needed with Mike Woodson, Melo only had about two seasosn before injuries and surgery took his athleticism away. Also, Amar'e not being able to get healthy was the biggest problem. Back then the salary cap was about 65 million. When you have a 20 million a year player riding the bench, you're gonna struggle to put a consistently effective team on the floor. Melo was a big time needle mover on the court. He just picked the wrong franchise to spend his best years in and his reputation took a hit as a result.

Objectively speaking, this was not supposed to be Melo's rotation, Lee was correct to do the rotation as he was the lowest one on the floor and he had a better angle to receive the rolling big man(Vuc), then Jennings will fill the gap between the wing and corner shooter, Melo should be sticking with his man up top. If Vuc decided to kick out to the corner, Jennings closes out, Melo rotates to the elbow shooter, and Noah must recognize the swing to top of the key immediately and rush to close out.

I used to teach at an expensive private school. The parents were season ticket holders and would give away tickets to the teachers when they couldn’t make the game so I went to a knicks vs thunder game (front row) and watched melo before the game. He didn’t put up a single shot in shootaround, he just spoke to spike Lee the whole time. Somehow the lazy bastard dropped 37 points that night

Luka scores, facilitates and runs the offense. Alsp doesnt have Melo's size and early athleticism. Luka can be a decent defender if he ever gets arpund to it but anthony could've been a great defender. Dude was backing down some PF's and was quick early on with good speed.
