Hearing about men being led into battle and ultimately being lost is something that is never easy to listen to, but is necessary to digest as a nation keeping the promise to never forget about its soldiers that pay the ultimate sacrifice. I sat down with Jeff Morris, author of “Legion Rising” about his role as an Army captain in charge of numerous men lost at the height of the Iraq war. Many tough memories recounted on this one, memories we all need to be aware of.

Capt you seem to me, speaking as an enlisted man the kind of officer I would have been confident following into harms way. I was almost always older than my PL/CC and on numerous instances those men had a different attitude/hesitancy in dealing with us older troops. As an Jr NCO/ NCO serving under officers who were younger than ourselves we/I were very leery of those officers who wouldn’t listen/take the benefit of our age and experience. You Sir are obviously not one of those officers. I live 20 minutes south of Tyler and wish I had known you were here as I would very much have liked to have gotten to know you. Drive On Sir. Scout Out.

It's really hard to make kids tough nowadays, I have 2 brothers and when there was a problem between us dad said go out back and settle it. It's hard to do that anymore. Kids aren't hiking, camping, hunting or fishing like we used too. To much video games, don't get me wrong, I play some video games, but kids nowadays play so much video games that there eye sight is worse than mine.

You know as far as men are concerned Adam Lee young is going to be my best friend until the day I die whether he likes it or not. It's not fair to ever make another man listen to me talk as much as he has had to endure and I already owe him ten billion dollars in back pay and I insist for his suffering in being there for as long as he was that he be paid every last penny of that ten billion dollars in cash reserve notes stat. I would feel guilty if they shorted him even a single penny. That's the truth. Enough of it that it will matter to me until the exact moment of my death to mitticulas account.
