I was enjoying your playing when I realized that you were doing something that has a parallel in watercolor painting. Often when painting something like a green leaf, it is not un common to change the color from one side to the other. Start with a green then add some blue, then some yellow, then some orange… This is pretty much what you do when you play. You add or subtract harmonics or change the percussion on the fly, and not just at the new verses. It keeps the song fresh. Well done!

Walter Wanderly...Eat Your heart out. I would guess he did not know his way around his B-3 like you do. Mike do you ever play your A-100 without accompaniment?
@irish000117 жыл бұрын
Mike doesn't have a B-3, or an A-100. His performing preference is his 1974 Hammond Grandee.
@mikereed34447 жыл бұрын
hey guys....my club organ was a B-3, and Walter played an M-100, not a B! In the old days we had no rhythm units, so I always had a drummer, if possible.
@ranadeau7 жыл бұрын
I guess they all have the basic set of sounds and all can be made to sound very similar to each other. Like the sound of a B-3 with Leslie.
@mikereed34447 жыл бұрын
with that same tone generator, even the spinets sounded just like the big consoles. My spinet M-3 played through my regular speakers that my B-3 used, sounded the same. Crazy, isn't it, but Hammond wanted everyone to have the same big sound no matter what their organ model was. :0)
@ranadeau7 жыл бұрын
Love the tone wheel generated sound. Friends have experimented with replacing the old tube amplifiers with higher powered solid state amps and it just was not the same...we need the harmonics produced by tubes. I like Rock albums like Booker T & The MGs' McLemore Avenue (Beatles Abbey Road Instrumental Cover) which features the B-3 sound. And artists like Billy Preston.But I also love the sound of a big Classical Pipe organ like the Skinner Organ at the Rockefeller Chapel on the U of Chicago campus. And as much as I love the B-3 sound, I love the piano too.
