I've always thought this was the best remodel video. It shows what needs to be done to do it right.

This is one of my favorite episodes. The early seasons of Holmes on Homes showed a lot more of the work. You can learn a lot about construction. I hope Don kept that house for quite awhile. Kitchen looks great and it has top quality materials.

Wow! A master electrician did that? IMO, it's time he retired. Back in the early 90's, I was living in a rented fire-trap. I asked my Dad, a master electrician to come in and do a few things for me. The moment he opened the first outlet box he asked me to never tell anyone that he had been in there. He found lamp-cord, tied onto Romex outside of a box of any sort to feed an outlet with no ground. That was just the first place he looked. Also, the person that wired the stove outlet had the neutral and one of the hot wires reversed. My Dad fixed the stove outlet and told me to find another place to live ASAP.

I can appreciate the work up until the bottom wood of the door frame. (Obviously, I do not know the technical term). In the video it looks rotted and yet it was installed without replacement.

Mike is THE example of how a contractor should be. If you don't take PRIDE in your work, then you need a different profession. EVERY trade should be reported, and prosecuted if possible for illegal jobs that could potentially be life threatening to homeowners. Good job Mike !!! 🔨🔨🔨

I saw that and don't get it either. It's rotten, get rid of it. Perhaps it was a production constraint and they needed the footage, but then took the door out and "did it right". Benefits of rhe doubt.

Shawn did a lot of tiling, and I think he and Ben moved on. Mike would change up his crews from time to time. Damon did a lot of shows with him , and then out of the blue got replaced. It's how TV production works.

as mad as he was i think he might have. i have never seen frank say it was so bad that he wanted it disconnected right away as it was not even safe to be working on anything only time i seen him shut it down was to replace a panel the fact that he was both pissed and looked scared says alot

Mr.Mike question for you, why not take a picture of him and then they call you,when you read the inspection,could it helps the victims to defend in court with a walk through video of the mess he cause,even if he didn't do the Job and especially WHY NOT THE JUDGE ASK THE CONTRACTOR IS HE REAL,no one yet put it to any judges,when put a lean on the contract, There has to be a system of lawyers to fight for the victims especially elderly and women's.

Again like i keep saying attached and semi attached houses should be illegal also this guy stopped the job prematurely im surprised that the contractor doesnt sue the homeowner
@geraldd21092 ай бұрын
Why should they be illegal? Do you have any idea how many of this type of house there are in Toronto? What they should be, is renovated properly. On what grounds could the contractor sue the customer? Even a layman can see the work was crap.
@delyn132 ай бұрын
@@geraldd2109 if his house catches fire it will set the joined house on fire and could kill everyone living in the joined house its a liability point blank and as far as the contractor he wasnt finished with the renovation and is owed money for the work
@Megumin_Random2 ай бұрын
@@delyn13at that point, though, what’s the difference between this and any apartment building, or any house with an apartment. You can’t simply require every person to live 30 feet away from each other, no exceptions. As long as the buildings are sufficiently fire broken, the other houses will be fine enough. But the contractor clearly didn’t care to follow those requirements
