Discipline is really important when it comes to life and anything you're passionate about doing. You need mental discipline to be able to focus on your goal even when people are testing your patience, or the world is beating you down, to be like " this sucks, but I can take it". Also to know certain times call for specific actions and if you just go around being a dick head all the time in situations that don't call for it, that shows you lack mental discipline too. Mental discipline is important when it comes to how much you can endure. If you don't train your mind to be composed under pressure you'll just crack and your body will follow.
