Mike is a raging death machine hiding inside a truly gentle but reluctant soul. As tragic as his trajectory could be seen, without it, we wouldn't have the warrior-philosopher we have today. Mike lived through his shit, he deserves the love today that he didn't get then.

When he was 13 years old, he got to spar with Bobby Stewart, who was a pro fighter working with the troubled youth. Tyson fought him raw as an untrained "nobody" and made him take a knee. Tyson impressed him so much that Bobby Stewart took him to meet Cus and the rest is history. 13/14 year old Mike knocking out grown ass men is still terrifying.

Ironically it was at reform school that he met a fighter on the staff that was impressed by his skills and introduced him to Cus who turned him from a young street thug to a pro fighter. If that didn't happen he'd most likely have spent most of his adult life broke and in prison.
