25 year old Male. Private loans are Really a Trap. My Private loans went from 50k to 80k in 3 years. Thankfully I was smart enough to choose a fix rate loan instead of variable rate and I make a good salary working in cyber security. Loans currently sitting at 30k. Will be done by August. I really feel for the ones who graduate and not fortunate enough to get a high paying career.

Apples monopoly comes before the purchasing decision bro. One can't just build a smart phone company and compete with them because of material constraints and supply chain logistical capture. There's a political monopoly there too internationally so it's within the best interest of the free market for them to facilitate commerce through being an open rather than walled marketplace. They argue that their walled strategy is what their customers prefer and it's what allows them to build product the way that they do, closed ecosystem. Peep the recent privacy PR play

dave is more right. - women coming into the workforce - kids being financial liabilities - baby mama welfare(US specific) - western culture (leaked into east asia) e.g xenophobia in the UK rn . mike s point is true but reversed. Judging by the current trend in the west, faith in the economy only leads to many kids when current times are tough. But if current times are comfortable like they are now in these industrialised countries. People would rather bet on themselves right now rather than the future through their kids.
