I'm a high school teacher. When Maher says that "some kids just want to be trans" he is 100% correct. Prior to 2018 I didn't have a single student who claimed to be trans. In 2019 a few started popping up. After Covid we went from none or a few to 26 in a single grade. *ALL* of them were girls. If someone tries to tell me there isn't some component of "social contagion" I laugh in their face. What is the statistical probability that a school goes from NO trans kids to 26 in a single grade and *ALL OF THEM ARE GIRLS?* It's infinitesimally small. And where are they now? Virtually every one of them is "back to normal."

I am a liberal. I will always be a liberal. i don't hate republicans. I don't buy in to the polarising rhetoric of modern toxic politics. However, I 100% believe in the "when in Rome" principal. Maher is correct that when liberals began tolerating intolerance is where things went off the deep end. Letting cultures come to your country and change the laws etc. is not tolerant - it's passive servility. Social Justice is not done by silencing the majority of that society and demonising contrary opinion without engagement. Liberalism has become a cancel cult of transfering power and freedom outward to minority interests. The more you fall into the mainstream or majority then the less your voice matters - but you don't get taxed less do you? What happened to no taxation without representation? Minorities are given disproportionate represetnation now without any thought to what that means for the majority at a cultural level. Who are we actually governing for when we dismiss the interests and values of the majority as irrelevant or wrong or inferior by-default? At an absolute minimum, we ought to no more consider altering our laws to suit incoming migrants any more than their place of origin is willing to change their laws and customs to better match ours. Nobody is forced to come to the West. Other flavours are available. I don't want to go to the East and tell them to live differently, why should they come here and tell us how we need live/live around them in our own country? It's absolute absdurdity. This never used to be a right-wing or conservative position. It used to be basic common sense: quid pro quo. The reaon liberalism will struggle politically for years to come is that it has gone down the rabbit hole so hard it is diffuclt to take it seriously. I abhore Donald Trump and everything he stands for. I think his re-election is a symptom of a deep sickness in the US. But equally, I would agree that the democrats have none but themselves to blame for being beaten by such a carnival candidate. Instead of blaming the ingnorance and intolerance of republicans, it's high time the democrats looked at themselves and asked - if they're so bad, how come they won? How did they beat us?
