Here in central Florida I do both tree and landscape during the winter and lawn care in summer it works for me I don't like to put all eggs in one basket. This is what I learned to love about owner operator you can customize the business to your specifics here in Florida the lawn landscape is always on demand a blessing to live here

I like both... Mowing clients give me recurring $ They also need bush trimming and mulch bed weeding Not only that but they already trust me with there property so there a huge potential client for mulch, pinestraw, and pressure washing...

36, super late in the game and not many handyman experience/skills. Starting a owner/op business. Plan on focusing on lawn care but gradually stepping into landscaping. I've cut trees (with & without electric wires running through them), trimmed bushes, installed new mulch beds, demo'd (kitchen, bathroom & garage), etc. Basic stuff. Eventually, I want to learn how to actually BUILD, install fences, fire pits, patios, make sheds, things like that. Never have tools a shot and now I love them...

Depends on what your passion is. For me I'm more of a perfectionist. I've found that landscaping tends to be a quality game and lawn care tends to be a quantity game. So it depends on if you are into systems and efficiencies or one off custom jobs. Not to say that there aren't production based landscape install companies nor quality based lawn care companies. You can make money in both!
