How to turn studying into a video game 1) get clear about everything you have to study >< ( Don't let the uncertainty consume you . Know your enemy first ) 2) smaller tasks with rewards : ) ( After knowing your enemy aka course that you got to study it must seem like ' omg this is so big !" But but but break down your big enemy into smaller pieces and Destroy it day by day, little by little) 3 ) Teammates !!! ( Ofc it'll be more fun to defeat your enemy with people who also want to defeat the same enemy . So get yourself some study buddies )

Here's another one: Do things you enjoy while studying, like listening to music, having snacks, or putting something on in the background, and do this consistently. It should be something that doesn't distract you from the work but is enjoyable. This strategy builds a positive association with work and makes you more willing to do the work because you know (whether consciously or subconsciously,) that you always have a good time when studying.

I’m studying to become a chemistry and biology teacher and I’m struggling a lot with procrastination. Teachers are humans too. Dont judge! Sometimes I help freshmen inside the labs and noticed they are struggling too. The best advice I gave all of them so far is to map their life like a skill tree. Not just the subjects they are learning right now. Biology and Chemistry is a lot. There are majors which are just focusing on one tiny area of it! Comparing those Allrounders in my lab with one-track specialists will make your brain think you are worthless cause you know nothing at all, but in fact you know more but not as detailed. Just make sure you know what you achieved by looking at the skills you earned along the way makes you more motivated to achieve more abstract goals.

If i try to summarize the things to remember then they are, 1. Track your progress (*How much you have accomplished and how much better is your understanding for the topic) 2. Focus on small goals (Divide that one big goal into a very small managable one and always keep trying) 3. Stay consistent (* Like create a kind of streak or something for your study) And at last when you defeat that final boss(Your Exams) it will feel Awesome.

the way i found working to be a favourable activity is by making that work meaningful. i regret picking the course i am on so i hate studying. but when i am in the gym i love it because i am passionate about reaching prs and getting a better body. same with working on a business; i want to achieve that goal and so when i get up in the morning its the first thing that i want to do. motivation comes from purpose.

One tip I like to give as well, do NOT study in the place where you usually game. Our mind connects places with tasks such as bed = sleeping and that's why when someone uses their phone often in their bed they have higher chances of being insomniacs, because their brain sees bed = phone = awake. So if you often entertain yourself at your desk, go to another on and study there because desk #1 = entertainment.

So, to reiterate, you first want to replicate the rewarding sense of progression, which video games are so addictive for: (1) Become clear about your end goal. (2) Break it down into smaller tasks you can more easily achieve. (3) Track your progress. (4) Review your progress regularly. Then, you want to do this as a team to enforce consistency in each other: You don't want to let your team down, you propably don't want to be the worst at what you are all doing, and you definitely don't want to be the load that needs to get carried or even kicked out for being useless. Great video, thank you

1. Do weekly tests of what you've learned throughout the week to make sure you're progressing 2. Everything is easier to do when there little risk involved. So instead of focusing only on your biggest goals, divide them into smaller ones. Not only to track your progress more efficiently, but also the reduce the risk involved with what you're working on 3. Get feedbacks from experienced people 4. Find a way to exploit FOMO, which is our sense of urgency, with a timer for example or some deadline you must not go over. Everyone is more productive on urgency 5. Work with a group of people simmilar to you

This video has been very informative. I'm dealing with low attention span making it difficult for me to stay focused on studying. Sometimes, I get really overwhelmed with the amount of material I need to study given the limited time to prep for a test. I hope these learning strategies with enable me to become an effective learner.

If this video isn't a good way to kickstart your new year. I really like how you explain your concept and as a gamer myself, I just love your editing style and references to the gaming world. I always thought about why I find it easy to push through a higher rank or finish an almost unbeatable boss and your video explains it wonderfully. It's that nice juicy dopamine combined with 0 risk. Thank you so much for this super high-value content. The next thing I'm gonna do is to turn my pile of pages to study into Pac-Man bite size pieces.

Hi 👋 there, very helpful and I loved the biweekly mindmaps process, the progress bar of topics and subjects and breaking the big final goal into asking the right questions to yourself on progress. I think it's equally important to praise yourself and derive motivation from completing a hard objective if one has competed a hard objective which deepens the interest.

My biggest challenge for studying is while I'm enjoying achieving my first goal, everyone's going through third or fourth goal already. I have this fixation on getting 100% in every goal whereas everyone's okay with getting 50-70% in each goal. So I'm always getting behind.

This video explores the idea of combining the fun aspects of video games with study routines to improve motivation and learning. The video presents three key concepts from video games that make them engaging and demonstrates how to apply these as "power-ups" to enhance studying: 1. Well-defined storyline and clear objectives: Video games provide clear goals and progress indicators, unlike traditional studying. To address this, create opportunities to track your progress, such as implementing self-assessments, practice tests, or mind maps to identify learning gaps. 2. Low risk, high reward: Video games allow players to experiment without severe consequences, which encourages creativity and persistence. Break down high-risk goals into smaller, low-risk objectives and focus on learning from mistakes. This approach makes studying more manageable and enjoyable. 3. FOMO (Fear of Missing Out): Video games use FOMO to encourage consistent engagement. Leverage healthy FOMO by creating social accountability through study groups, which fosters a sense of community and competition. Additionally, implement personal reward systems for achieving study milestones. By applying these power-ups to your study routine, you can improve motivation, foster a sense of purpose and direction, and ultimately achieve a greater sense of accomplishment in your academic endeavors.

Small goals - levels And progress tracking to see where you are at/if you’re improving - stats (These will give you comfort that you’re ready to beat the final boss + not overwhelmed by big goal) Community/healthy competition +/reward - playing with friends to be encouraged to keep going!

These are such great ideas! In using our knowledge of the addictiveness of activities such as video games and analysing the reasons for this, we can apply those principles to tasks which do seem uninviting at times, yet are truly meaningful. Probably one of the best sources of information on this topic - collating the key principles using this analogy into one concise video, also! Awesome, guys - thank you, and keep it up!

Question at the end: Which part of the video interested you the most? Me: How about the whole video? No, but seriously man! I struggle a lot lately to even watch 3 minutes straight and I watched your entire video, because it was so interesting and so clear! I am definitely gonna rewatch it and take notes to see how I can implement this into my own studying and make my study a game! I really see how this can actually work and how I can indeed actually get addicted to studying! This is honestly one of the best videos I have seen in quite some time! Well done man!

It's been named: Game-ification. The mechanics game designers use to addict you. You can use them to self motivate. Motivation is the key. Salary in 10y is your goal, so bring that closer like the video says, recognise that the little targets actually matter NOW. OR admit you just don't want it, drop out, change course, whatever. But don't do NOTHING.
