I was fortunate enough to buy my RCR almost two years ago now and only have one issue that turned out to be silly. But I have to give it to them. I was out in the hills where no one was around for miles and my RCR lost power and I was stranded. I shot a text to these guys at ONYX while scratching my head wondering WTF I was going to do and how I was going to get back into town and I believe it was Matt who replied from home to my text within two minutes. Explained to him what happened. He called me directly and we went through some steps together where he accurately diagnosed the issue. It didn't get me back on the road right away but that was because I had taken the spare 120amp fuse that was taped to the inside of the wood cover out. To this day I can't remember my reasoning for that silly decision. Maybe I thought it would have fallen out while riding. And if this has happened to anyone else out there, I hope you did as I did. As soon as I got back into town, I pulled the fuse holder, went on Amazon ordered a DC 120 amp breaker, and installed that. Never had any issues since. I have over 2000 miles on my RCR with no other issues but the one described above. They are fairly easy to mod on. I haven’t done anything extreme to mine as I think they're a work of art. All I’ve done was for practicality. Bigger headlight and better tail light. Custom longer seat. If you’re curious how I got back to town that one time… Being from and growing up in San Diego I would have just called someone to save me. But I am new to Washington. So I began pushing my 175-pound bike the 15 miles it would take to get back. I would never expect this in California but to my dismay 10 minutes into my push the only vehicle to pass me pulled over and offered to run home and grab their truck and trailer and give me a hand. So they took off and I thought to myself self “why would they return” so after 10 more minutes of pushing dude came back and gave me a lift back. Turns out he’s a motorcycle enthusiast and had never seen anything like the bike I was on and wanted to know more about it. The point is, ONYX had the best of intentions and had designed and built an iconic bike that has created an almost, if not, what is, a cult following that has sprouted 3rd party creators to add to what I think is one of the best Ebikes created. There are what seems to be endless mods that one can do to this Ebike or just leave it as is and is still a work of art. It's just a bummer tragedy has struck the company and my heart goes out to everyone who had a hand in building it. I am proud that I can say that I purchased one that was made in the USA! And yes, I would be interested in seeing what the acting CEO would have to say to a more hard-line set of questions. Thank you for your channel! Appreciate you bud.

Yup I have been one of the lucky ones , I own an Onyx & just over the past year I,ve been collecting parts for my Onyx just because I’ve heard the same thing . I have just enough parts to build 2 more bikes if I chose to & have lots of battery packs , so I’m good .

The warranty is with Mulberry NOT Onyx. If something goes wrong, they give you cash not a new bike. Also it takes 18 months minimum to develop a new bike. They actually have a new bike design but don't have the resources to bring it to market. Sadly that bike would be a game changer.

Early adopter here…..Bought my onyx rcr during the indigogo days back in 2018. I was the first customer in Santa Cruz,ca to own one. Loved it dearly and rode it hard. Awesome machine but it has its faults. Changing the rear tire or fixing a flat is a huge pain the ass. Overall it was aw3some. Sold mine 3 years later with 8000 miles on it. Still sold it for a profit and got more than I paid for it. Perks of being an early adopter. Shit yeah though we had a great run together.

I like ONYX, but it seems like they had their golden age the last few years and it may be coming to an end. They had more than enough influencer support on KZbin. They should have skipped the LZR, and stuck to high power bikes. If/when regulations tighten up, they would probably come out the other side as a motorcycle company, and not an ebike company- considering the power of their bikes. I dont think you will be able to sell a 4000W ebike and call it 750W forever. In the future, electric motorcycles will be subject to further scrutiny than ebikes. So to be an emoto company, you will have to have your stuff together. And it seems ONYX is struggling, even under loose ebike regulations. I don't understand how they messed up this bad, when the Onyx has seemingly been a popular successful bike. When the regulations do come. its companies like ONYX that will have to pivot and struggle to adapt. And if they are struggling already, thats concerning. I hope they can figure it out and stick around, I like their bikes!! I wonder if the original founder designer guy is still there? Or have a bunch of other people taken over? I think if the original guy that founded the company is still there, maybe theres some passion and fire left. But if the company has been handed over to a bunch of bean counters, then its probably F-d.

thanks for the update Mike. I own an Onyx RCR I bought back in March of 2021, not long before Tim bought his bikes and I saw your video on them. I love my Onyx, and this is unfortunate to see. I agree there was some build quality issues but to this day mine has not let me down. I hope they get things sorted out. It's still one of the fastest and best looking stock bikes out there.

That OfferUp listing of all the ONYX parts is all the NCR random non inventory crap that got left behind on purpose when moving out of the warehouse. It's not new inventory stuff. And it's not ONYX selling it. It's probably some scrapper person that picked it up from the landlord when he was cleaning it up. Or maybe it's the landlord himself.

I remember I was debating between ONYX or Huck stinger 3000 back in 2020. I ended up going with the Huck because it looked like a better built bike with more support. I even talked to owner a couple times. It's a good bike, but a lot wiring looked pretty rough and it seems a little too top heavy. It be interesting how Huck Cycles is doing nowadays, their website is still up but they have been really quiet. It be cool if maybe they can pick up the onyx brand since they are very close anyway.

Interesting Mike ....... Onyx had a bunch of E-Bikes "stolen" out of there open garage door factory 2 years ago. True or NOT ? ...... Who knows the truth? The Motor Goat V3 is due within a month. It will be a 45-50 MPH Monster I have heard directly from the owner for 1/2 the price. My V3 will be delivered within 2 weeks. NO facts yet ....... but if it is true ....... the E-Bike industry will EXPLODE shortly as NOBODY has a faster E-Bike for less money.
