Best thing I recommend to other dads who are short on time and looking to be what you describe as, "fighting fit" is incorporate the 'workout' into ever day routines with the kids. Run around with the kids, push yourself while playing with them and turn it into cardio for you. I wear a weighted ruck on every walk or park visit with my kids and if the park is mostly vacant, I may use the monkey bars for some chin ups while the kids play. Figuring out ways to be creative with the workout is a great exercise for the brain too. Thanks for the excellent video, Mike.

I have found the term called a micro workout works well now that I'm a busy Dad. I had a all or nothing approach. If I didn't have 45min to an hour at the gym doing weights then I didn't have time to workout. Now I started doing quick circuit workouts at home stuff like setting a timer 10-15 minutes just doing jumping Jack's and push ups then added some dumb bells. My 3 yr old son enjoys jumping Jack's and climbing on my back for push ups this keeps me fit if I don't have time for the gym

Love how you mention fitness. I think about how I need to be able at any time run 3-5 miles. Which is roughly these length of my town. If I’m in my truck and it doesn’t start and my kids are in an accident or take to the hospital . I want to not have to count on finding a ride. I want the ability run to them. I have that ability and I’m also trying to push to go further or faster. I have a goal of running a sub 6 min mile also (I’ll be 48 this year), right now I can run a mile in 7 mins 35 seconds. Not bad, but not good enough. I hike jog with my packs. I usually train in the morning and push myself to go without food. Some time up to 9-13 miles. You never know right. I’m not someone special when it comes to tactics or shooting or fighting, but that can come. I might not be able to fight you, but if I don’t have to. I can probably evade you. RUN!

One of the most valuable podcasts thus far! I’ve always struggled with the question should I or shouldn’t I carry in “gun free zone”. I’m a teacher and I’m always thinking, what happens if there is a school shooter? Throw a chair at them??
@F80mthree2 жыл бұрын
Carry a 9mm concealed. Either in your desk (if lockable) or get something like a g43 etc and keep it on your body. Protect your kids at all costs. No reason to tell anyone, because trust me, If that situation ever happened (which I hope never does) your staff and most importantly your children and students will be forever thankful.
@F80mthree2 жыл бұрын
And the last thing you need to worry about after stopping a threat is carrying in a “gun free zone” which essentially is a “come take advantage of us zone” stay safe buddy.
@mdselmer42492 жыл бұрын
@@F80mthree yeah man, a g43 is my primary carry, mainly left locked in the car when I’m at school. I’ve considered leaving it in my bag but the fear is if I have to leave it unattended and someone goes through it and finds it.
@F80mthree2 жыл бұрын
@@mdselmer4249 I say keep it inside your bag. Just don’t leave it unattended obviously. You seem squared away. Sad part is there are not many teachers like you who even consider carrying at school in case of a threat. My only advice is, carry it everyday either on body or in a desk(lockable) or your bag. Having it locked in your car won’t do anything in the moment.

Having two toddlers myself I keep most of weapons locked up and unchambered. For quick home defense I have multiple pistols staged, up high and out of reach in every room (but the kid's) with full mags but unchambered. Shotty by the bed that is in cruiser ready condition. I made 3d printed wall brackets that secure the shotty from being pumped that is child locked in place and takes time to remove in non emergency situations, but an adult can easily break it free from the brackets by applying leverage on the barrel and pump it. AR pistol con 3 locked in a glass cabinet where the glass can easily be broke for removal. Then my edc gucci'd G19 stays fully loaded and chambered either on my person or in my bedside retention holster. It only gets unchambered when it will not be in arms reach for a period of time. The wife and I frequently drill from various rooms getting the weapons quickly and operational. Luckily I haven't had to use any in my home but I've had to replace the glass once. The drive by crew were cowards and didn't even take enough time to actually even hit a house on my block. Found rounds in the dirt and an electric pole. Thanks for the content Mike, with the priceless knowledge you and others in the community provide us we are all becoming better men for our families.
