Reading your book, 2/3 through. No dull moments, is all exciting. Some things you just don't expect. Very well written. Even though I haven't finished it yet, am hoping for more books from you in the future! Also, your videos are amazing. I have bought a lot of food from your personal reviews!

@Mike Jeavons Greetings Mike and Grace from Grimsby, Ontario Canada. I've been a subscriber to your KZbin channel for about a year now. I really enjoy watching your videos. I have 2 chronic lower back pain conditions, Lumbar Spinal Stenosis and Degenerative Disc Disease and Osteoarthritis in both of my knees and in my hips. I can't sleep most nights because of my chronic pain so I binge watch your videos. Binge watching your videos helps me get through the sleepless nights and helps me forget about my pain. Thank you for making your videos, I really appreciate it.

Is there not much in the way of Tesco Finest veg? Because the lack of veg in most of this weeks meals is pretty shocking
@philipdaly73285 жыл бұрын
For the sake of Mike's weekly diet, I wish there was...but on the other hand I'm glad there isn't. Veg is veg and if they put a mark-up on 'pretty' looking veg as "Tesco Finest" then some silly people with too much money are always going to buy it. Then even more vegetables not fitting "the standard" will be wasted. Despite that, I'm agreeing with you. Just having an odd few minutes typing thoughts.

Future week on idea: Do a week on keto. I'd say shoot for just under 2000 kcal daily...so that'd be 145g fat, 140g protein, and 30g net carbs (total carbs minus grams fiber). This number set adds to about 1985 kcals. You can play a little with fat and protein (1g fat is 9 kcals, 1g protein is 4, and 1g carb is 4)...but the net carbs need to stay at or below 30g. Some recommendations for the diet from an experienced practitioner are 1. Don't skimp on fibrous fruits and vegetables...broccoli, blackberries, raspberries, avocado, to name a few; 2. Aim for fatty fish whenever possible (salmon, flounder, eel, mackerel, etc); 3. just avoid grain and potatoes entirely...it's essentially impossible to fit starchy foods without a detriment to your micronutrition; 4. Eggs are your friend...especially boiled; 5. Artificial sweeteners are usually cut with maltodextrin...which is pure starch, so before deciding on using one, check the ingredients; 6. and final, Heavy cream is generally 1 net carb per serving (at least in the U.S.), so getting two servings of cream on some berries with some good sweetener (or even without) is an excellent treat that will generally come in at about 7 net carbs and under 200 kcals. If you do it, you will lose a ton of weight very quickly, but much of it is water because glycogen (muscle sugar) is highly hygroscopic...and once you burn it all off and your body enters ketosis, you will get rid of the now unnecessary water.
