HOLY.......The detail, I could never build it that well, and if I did I would have to put it in a glass case and never touch it again, much less fly it......

is the music ???? Sousia?? or something like that. I seem to think somewhere in my dusty dark storage I have an old LP with this marching music on it. Carry over from my 25 years military days..... I was so gunho and keen at the very start.

Really beautiful. Not only the attention to detail but the standard all those details are made to, outstanding. Now, I hate to bring this up and I know this divides people, but when I see a model of this incredible standard, then find out it's got electric power... I have to say, I'm disappointed! Does a lovely multi-cylinder 4-stroke not appeal at all? To me they are the same miniature elegance as the work in this model and would suit the same ideals that built the model... I totally get that to many people they're just not into it and there are other priorities in the build, but there's something about high quality miniature engines that is also beautiful. Modern spark ignition gassers are cleaner and easier to use than ever, and if you've seen that RC Spitfire with the inline Kolm 170cc UAV engine, the sound is *awesome* and very "scale", the engines IMO are totally in keeping with the concept of the model. I really don't want to criticise but I don't fully understand how someone could build a machine like this and not use that type of powerplant... different points of view and priorities, I get it, but anyway that's how I would see it.
@MikeJM-Fly-RC5 жыл бұрын
I couldn't agree with you more, but at the time I didn't know anything about gasers and didn't have any guidance. I have since gained a little more experience and have a Zero with an FG90r radial and currently putting together a Comp Arf Spitfire with a DA100i inline. I do love the sound of that Saito with a Keleo ring exhaust. I haven't heard the inline yet. If your interested check out one of my P-38 flight videos, doesn't sound like a gasser but it's not bad. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hp_GqpiInqysna8

Hey Mike: NEXT time (if there's going to be one) you should put a laser engraver on your cnc machine. I picked up a little 2.5 w one and can do a LOT with it, but a 5 or 10 watt will be able to cut out parts for you. I was thinking for some of the finer details you can engrave with the laser. I haven't tried micro lettering yet with mine but I've gone down to 1/8" and they are razor sharp.

Yes I would love to have a laser attachment. I would probably want to upgrade my slides with something more precise.
@muskokamike1277 жыл бұрын
go over to cncrouterparts.com. I used their concept to upgrade mine: v bearings on steel angle iron. I haven't installed mine yet but they are smooth and precise. There is also very little rolling resistance because it is steel on steel with a small contact patch. Kind of like trains on rails......

I have to ask: how the heck did you do the rivets on the canopy? I was thinking "straight pins cut off" but that's a LOT of measuring!!!
@MikeJM-Fly-RC7 жыл бұрын
A combination of raised rivets using canopy glue on vinyl rivets and flush rivets applied using a soldering iron and brass tubing.
