YES - as an auto mechanic, I agree 200%! One of my biggest pet peeves was the reuse of totaled fasteners. You can waste the entire billable job time on ONE stupid fastener! 😵

No joke. Especially since they’re repeat customers and the damn thing gets inspected annually, it benefits the techs to replace those screws for the next time they work on it.

Many fasteners only used once on removal must be replaced. I'm not totally on board with that but at least every other time.
@SmittySmithsonite

@@chauvinemmons On modern automotive engines, most of the time the cylinder head bolts are TTY (Torque To Yield), and can only be used ONCE. When you torque them to spec, they stretch to just a hair below their breaking point. Reusing them is a great way to ruin your week, lol.

Watch the problem of the stall, The stick pusher, landing on a soft field, performing a full stall landing, will push the nose into the ground , if disconnected, the left wing will drop first, sharply. Test this at altitude. Be sure you have control of the stall process! 🔥 The stall problem is reduced when olny part flaps are set, remember full flaps is the critical configuration Watch blancolirio Mesquite incident ! I'll never forget when I dropped in at the late Joe Clarks "strip" (think airport, that big), and he said on the radio to go ahead and land he was just wrapping up his routine in his PC-12. For the next several minutes I got treated to a great aerobatic show. It's a crying shame you guys never met, he was a a 12 and a 6, loved the brand.

Thankyou Mike. You sent my brother some Scrappy parts last year (you didnt even charge him). He passed away a few months ago. He talked about you all the time. Our passion was aircraft and we worked together. Its nice to see you and your brother working with each other. You flew over our house one day in Turbulence and it blew our minds (it is ridiculously fast)! I hope to see it fly again some day. Be well and enjoy pursuing your dreams.

2 of my best friends from the old neighborhood are twins. I learned really young to notice the subtle differences, so now that I'm much older, I can ALMOST always tell twins apart from each other. My biggest issue is remembering names. I know Mike and Mark from the years seeing them on KZbin, but for people I just meet, I'm TERRIBLE with names, twins or not. It's embarrassing! Same with names of streets, newer cars, newer parts, etc.. Must've been the part of the brain affected by too much fun in the 80's, lol. 😁

What a clean and neat interior with a few stripped screws in the floor...I used to be an aircraft mechanic in the 1970's, working on interior mx and cargo conversions on DC-8's and genl mx on C-130's. One of the most pleasant jobs ever is pulling literally thousands of crews up from the floor panels of a C-130 so they could all be pulled up for cleaning and inspection. The aircraft has been hauling every type of cargo from oil drilling equip to fresh fish, many of whom have fallen out of the bins and now reside rotting in the sidewall of the wall panels. Many of the screws are stripped and or filled with gunk so that they won't come out easily. Also the foreman insists (so that no more screw heads are stripped) that no pneumatic screw guns be used, (we didn't have electrics then) only hand held screwdrivers and an old fashion crank driver which gives you a little faster extraction. Oh, and it's very hot and the removal of the sidewalls and the resulting fiberglass dust has your skin on fire...and you just knelt down and your knee kit a countersunk scree head. A great motivator to find a more professional line of work!

Oh man, I wish I had your problems. I am 51, busting my butt working 7/12s trying to figure out why I am sticking with trying to build just one RV-8 when I should have given up after the $30k increase of my project the last two years. Here you guys are sitting there talking about something that cost the same as eight of what I'm trying to build. I love it though when people's hard work pays off, even when a lot of others doesn't though, which is a big reason I love your videos. My problem is I love my job working on jet fighters which I've done since I left high school. It just doesn't quite pay as well. LOL Blue Skies!!!

As a new to aircraft as in I've got ground my first ground school class scheduled a week away and a neighbor with A&P training going to look at what I'm hoping to be the same type of not same plane that enthralled me at age 6 a Cessna 195 with 69SMOH and the sexiness of a 32 highboy within my budget so Im hopefully passing up on a 172 and tail dragging the the ground and putting a dream on tap all 34 years later. Love you guys with Drago and Scrappy and Rebuild rescue as they made my side hustle of repairing cars over the last 3 years pay for my lessons and hopefully a beautiful 195.

Mark/Mike, I can really appreciate your comments regarding the stripped screws on your $35K+ annual. Overall, the problem of common sense not applying to annuals is endemic in the aircraft maintenance industry. I often find and am puzzled by not replacing screws, wires, connectors, etc that have minimal cost because "it still works" mentality. You should see the 40 year old wires and connectors I just discovered in one of my airplanes back from annual on landing gear microswitches.....

The house I grew up in was number 22. I like that you guys brought that up! :) There was always something about the PC-12 that I was drawn to. Even before I fell head-over-heels in love with aviation in 2017 (thanks to Greg / Premier1Driver's channel), I'd see one fly parallel to my street anywhere from 2-6x per week hauling pax from north to south, long before I knew what it was. I could always hear it coming - the modern turbine coupled with the old school tried-and-true prop. The long, straight wings really made it stand out in the sky, along with the SPEED! That was what drew me in - first the sound, then the speed! Before my shop was built I always worked on my tailgate of my truck in the driveway cleaning carburetors, rebuilding engines, keeping OPE, and cars / trucks running, and I'd always stop whatever I was doing and watch that Pilatus fly by, just amazed at the ground that thing was covering so quickly! It wasn't until I discovered aviation on KZbin, and FlightAware that I knew how high, fast, what it was, where it came from and where it was going. Even at 9k feet above me, that thing just eats up the miles. Can really get a sense of the speed! Fun to watch! My chances of owning one in this lifetime are pretty slim, but that would be the one I would work my way up to if I ever had the opportunity. It's amazing to see what's under all those covers and panels! Impressive engineering. And speaking of engineering, that's the first time I've seen one of your Best Tugs operate! That is truly AMAZING! NICE work on that!! I know you guys have been continuously improving them over time, but wow, that's an impressive machine! I've rambled enough! Great stuff fellas - always love the TV / movie clips thrown in - cracks me up! Can't wait to see her fly and perform with that new engine! I'll definitely check Mark's channel for those numbers - love that stuff. I can't recall where I saw the new paint ... maybe Instagram, but it looks PHENOMINAL! 😎🙌

Another good laugh. When I was working (Air Freight Op) the wires never got pulled out of the ceiling. Huge bundles of abandoned wires as tech advanced and left in place. I had an office that had a huge pile of Conrtoler com wires, from Coax to the latest blue hose. When I got done (carefully!) huge feet came out and it was just a small bundle (and management would not even let me pull the Coax out of the runs to the main brains to make room in the conduit for future runs. So much falls to management stupidity.

"Zinc Chromate," Mark. Also the floorboard screws may be titanium for weight savings and are very expensive. They bind very easily when removing and the heads strip. Using valve grinding compound on the apex bit when removing titanium screws helps the traction and a much less chance of stripping the heads. They are a headache but I agree with you about replacing every one that is stripped. Really labor intensive fasteners.

Hello I just need to clarify something for your viewers and by the way I love you guys. 27:10 you mentioned shot peening the prop as hardening the prop that is not what it does. Shot peening puts the surface of steel (or material) under compression, by doing that it it allows the surface to come under tension and minimize stress fractures to form.
